This poem is about loneliness, trauma, and hope.

He came back from the war

But found his home no more

His family had left him alone

With nothing but his memories of horror

He wandered through the streets

Looking for a place to rest

But no one seemed to care for him

Or acknowledge his sacrifice and distress

He lived the rest of his life alone

With no one to share his pain

He tried to forget the past

But the nightmares always came

He died in his bed one night

With no one by his side

But as he closed his eyes for the last time

He saw a sight that made him smile

He saw a crowd of grim reapers

Standing at his door

They saluted him with respect

And said, "You are not alone anymore"

They took him by the hand

And led him to the light

They said, "You have fought well, soldier

Now you can rest in peace tonight".
