Bucky didn't hear from you on Friday. You didn't pick up when he called you in the afternoon. You didn't answer any of his texts either. He fell asleep, thinking about whether you were okay.
He'd heard nothing by the time he woke up again on Saturday morning. He tried to call you but it went straight to voicemail as the call was quickly declined. That was when he began to worry.
He didn't know what was going on. He didn't want to jump straight to conclusions, assuming that there was a problem, but he couldn't think of why else you weren't talking to him all of a sudden.
He called you a couple times before noon, and sent about a dozen texts.
He didn't like it. He was too suspicious. He needed to check on you. Luckily, he was still staying at the hotel in California. Only a ten minute drive away.
No way in hell was he ever really leaving you alone with your dad.
He went after lunch. He drove round to your dads apartment. He knocked on the door.
Silence came from within the apartment. Bucky knew you were home as y/f/n's car was still parked out the front. He knocked again. He heard noise from within the apartment. A few seconds later, the door opened but only a fraction as the chain held it back. Bucky saw half y/f/n's face.
"James? What are you doing here?"
"I came to see y/n."
"Why?"
"Because I have every right to. She's my sister. Can I come in?"
"Why would she want to see you?"
Bucky's eyes narrowed madly as he became impatient. "We made up. There's no reason she wouldn't want to. So can I please come in now?"
Your dad took a moment before responding. "She's sleeping."
Bucky stared at him. He didn't believe him. It was bullshit. Something was wrong.
"Open the door."
"Why don't you just come back later?"
"Open. The door."
He didn't do anything.
"Or I'll kick it down myself."
Y/f/n sighed and closed the door so he could undo the chain. Bucky pushed open the door, causing him to stumble back slightly. Bucky was about to go find you when he noticed your dad tiredly rubbing his forehead. Bucky figured it out. He neared him threateningly.
"Do you have a hangover?" He took another step. "Did you get drunk last night?" Bucky was towering over y/f/n, intimidating him. Then he suddenly spun around and marched off. "Y/n!" he called as he headed to your room.
Your door was slightly ajar. Bucky knocked, which pushed it open further.
He saw you. He'd expected it but he still freaked out.
"Shit." He knelt down beside you and rolled you onto your back. You had bruises on your neck and face, including a black eye. Bucky could spot a few cuts on your bare skin. He lightly touched one of them. You didn't flinch. You were barely moving besides the slow rise and fall of your chest.
Bucky quickly gathered you up in his arms and rose to his feet. He returned to the living room. Your dad had since moved to the kitchen. Bucky temporarily lay you down on the couch as he needed to take care of something. He stormed into the kitchen.
"How is she?"
Bucky crossed the room to reach him. He pinned him against the wall.
"Look, I'm sorry."
