"I can't believe you had a drunken conversation with the director of shield" Bucky laughed.
"Shut up!"
"Honestly, I think that level of embarrassment is punishment enough."
"So I'm not grounded?"
"No, you're still grounded... oh, that's hilarious. You need to tell me more about what you said to him."
"No."
"Come on, please?" Bucky begged, temporarily diverting his eyes from the road to glance at you. You rolled your eyes at him.
"I... I may have called him a pirate... and... I really hope I'm wrong, but... I think I said he looks like a stoner."
Bucky burst out laughing. "Oh my god! He must've been so mad!"
"Yeah, he wasn't impressed... god, I hate myself" you moaned.
"But this is entirely your own fault. You gotta learn responsibility. Accept the consequences of your actions. Ie, piss off Director Fury and live with the embarrassment-"
"Stop laughing!" You slapped him on the arm.
"Okay! I'm sorry, don't hit me. I'm trying to drive a car here."
You grumpily folded your arms across your chest as you sat back in your chair.
"Oh don't be like that" Bucky sighed. "Do you wanna watch a movie when we get back?"
"I don't know."
"I'll take that as a yes. What do you wanna watch?"
Halfway through Bucky's sentence, your phone started ringing. After checking the caller ID, you instantly hung up.
"Who was that?"
"No one."
"Y/n?"
"Don't worry about it" you said as you sent 'no one' a quick text.
"Mhm."
"Can we watch a Disney movie?"
Bucky rolled his eyes at the change of topic, but didn't question it any further. You talked in the car until you got home. When you walked in the apartment, you excused yourself. "I'll be back in like ten minutes. Put on Tangled."
Bucky watched you curiously as you walked away from him. He thought for a moment about whether he could eavesdrop, but decided against it as he didn't want to piss you off. He went to the kitchen and made some popcorn. He returned to the living room, set up the movie, and waited several minutes for you to come.
"Y/n?" he called after a while. He got no response so he went to your room. He paused in the doorway but you were sat on your bed with your back facing the door.
"I know... I'll have to ask..." You were still on the phone. "I can't just... but that wasn't his fault. I can't blame him for that... no, I do. I do want to see you but I'm not going to guilt-trip him into letting me go..."
Bucky decided to cough to let you know he was there. You looked back over your shoulder with slightly alarmed eyes.
"I've gotta go. I'll talk to you later... mhm, bye... I love you too, bye."
You hung up your phone and tossed it onto your pillows.
"What are you doing listening in on my conversation?"
"I'm sorry, I just thought you were coming to watch the movie..."
"Yeah, I am."
"You're not going to tell me who was on the phone, are you?"
"You don't need to know" you smirked. "Plus, keeping secrets from you is fun." You jumped off your bed and started walking to the living room.
"Secrets plural?" Bucky questioned as he followed you. "What other secrets are you keeping from me?"
"If I told you, then it wouldn't be a secret, would it?"
"No, no, no, tell me."
"Nope."
You jumped onto the couch and grabbed the remote, pressing play on the movie. Bucky sat on the opposite end of the couch so you shuffled over towards him. He put his arm around you as you cuddled up to him.
You watched 'Tangled' together, then you fell asleep halfway through 'The Princess and the Frog'. Bucky noticed but he still watched the movie all the way until the end before he did anything about it.
He stood up from the couch, quietly and carefully so as not to wake you, and he switched off the TV. He decided to leave you on the couch as he made your dinner.
