Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 1

JJ's POV

We are on the way home after a week long case, I miss my baby so much, I love my job but I hate leaving her

Emily and I have been married for 3 years now, together for 5,

Two years ago emily and I decided that we wanted to open our home, we became foster parents and we loved it. Our placements never lasted more than a week but while the kids were with us we made sure they were safe

Now however, we have had a 4 year old for the past 7 months and Emily and I are planning to try and adopt her

Adoption was never our plan for fostering, it just wasn't our goal. We love the idea of being able to reunite families when it's safe.

We were only supposed to have Lily for a week, but something came up and it wasn't safe for her to go back to her birth mom,

And that poor little girl has been through so much in her short life so Emily and I didn't want to move her, we told them we would continue fostering her for as long as she needed

She used to be very shy and wouldn't talk to anyone but she warmed up to us quickly, she was 3 when she came into our care so we got to celebrate her birthday and we made it everything she could have wanted, us and our team spoiled her so much.

Since fostering her I have never been away from her this long, Emily and I trade off on cases so we never leave her alone,

As soon as the jet landed I left to go home, it was just 10 am so I knew Lily would be awake when I got home

I walked in the door and heard the television on along with lily's giggles

I walked quietly up to her and she turned around and smiled, quickly standing up on the couch

"Momma JJ!" She exclaims and puts her arms out to me and I picked her up, holding her small body to me

"I missed you so so much" I tell her and kiss her cheeks and her nose and she continues to giggle when Emily walks out to us

"Hi baby.... I missed you" Emily says and kisses me softly and doing the same to the top of Lily's head

"Lily has been waiting for you to come all night, she woke me up at 5:30 asking when you would be home" Emily teases and Lily hides her face into my chest

"Mommy Emmy! You not supposed to tell her" Lily says, causing Emily and I to laugh

"Well I have been waiting to get home to both of you too, and I could definitely use a nap, do you want to lay down with me?" I ask Lily

"But I'm not sleepy" she says and Emily gives me a look, telling me all I needed to know

"Then how about you just keep me company?" I ask her and she nods

"Okay" she smiles and I kiss Emily once more before heading back to our room

"I'm going to shower quick, can you stay here?" I ask Lily, I was hoping she would be content enough to lay in bed while I showered

"I want to come with you" she says and tightens her grip on me

"Okay" I tell her, and she smiles, it's not like it's a big deal anyhow

"Sit here and wait baby" I tell her and she nods as I put her on the counter in the bathroom

"Momma JJ?" Lily ask once I got into the shower

"Yes baby?" I ask her

"Can we go to space?" She ask me and I chuckle

"Hmm how are we doing to get there?" I ask her
