Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 17

JJs POV

Emily and I decided it would be a good idea to leave the office a little early today, after what happened with Danielle earlier we were both pretty concerned.

Plus Lea was supposed to be bringing by Danielle's phone as well,

We have had older placements in the past but none of them were this stand offish, the first day or so yea they preferred to stay by themselves which or course is not a problem.

However, by the third day they were wanting to be around us, and I know, we have only had Danielle a day but still, she won't even look at us if she can help it.

And I'm sure that this is her way of protecting herself, and again, I understand that. I just wish there was something I could do, I wish there was something we could do.

But for now, we'll just go and pretend like everything is okay, starting by leaving the office, Emily had went out and subtly asked Derek and Rossi to just step out while we left, we didn't want Danielle to have another episode like she did before because I know that it would have just drained her even more

"You ready?" I ask Danielle after I had gotten the "okay" text from Emily, Danielle didn't verbally answer me; she had just nodded and got up to follow me

"Is lea coming?" She ask me, it was very quietly though,

"She is, she is brining your phone soon," I tell her and she nods once again,

We left my office and met Emily down in the bull pen so we could leave.

"Lea just texted, she will be at the house in less than an hour" Emily tells her and Danielle just Continues to walk next to us

When we got back to the house Danielle walked back to her room and shut the door while Emily and I stayed in the kitchen

"I think it may be a good idea to just keep her here until she gets closer with us" Emily tells me and I nod

"I think so, I was thinking about it earlier, she just needs to know us a little before we introduce anyone else" I say and she nods, I know we both didn't want overwhelm her anymore than we already had

It wasn't much longer before Lea had showed up, Emily let her in and the three of us sat at the table

"How is she?" Lea ask,

"She's keeping to herself, she doesn't talk or look at us much, we took her to the office this morning and she passed out in fear.... That was a first for us" Emily explains and Lea sighs

"What happened?" She ask

"She had seen one of our coworkers and I guess like you said with her thing with men and it just scared her" I say and lea nods

"Is she okay now?" She ask us, she is so much more attached to Danielle than I thought she was

"She is... as far as we know" Emily states and excuses herself so she could go get Danielle

"Im sorry but I have to ask.... Why can't you take her in? It seems like you guys have really bonded" I question, it had been bugging me since yesterday

"I tried... I kept her for two days because I didn't want to send her to Juvie or a group home and almost lost my job..... I'm not allowed to" Lea sighs and I nod, I didn't have time to say anything else because Emily and Danielle had walked back out to us

"Hey" Lea smiles and stands up to hug the younger girl;

"You came back" Danielle whispers and I smile,  I really did like their bond

"I told you I would be here" Lea replies and Danielle just nods

Emily I went to make ourselves busy in the kitchen to give them a little space but we could still hear their conversation

"Do you like it?" I heard Lea ask and Danielle sighed

"I want to go with you" Danielle says, it was more of a whine than anything, it had definitely surprised me

"Jennifer and  Emily are great people... they won't hurt you. You're safe I promise" Lea assures her

"Lea please" Danielle pleads and Emily walks over to me and holds me to her

"Shell be okay" Emily tells me and I nod, I know she was right. She typically is.

We gave them a few More moment before walking back out into the dining room, Lea was sitting in a chair holding Danielle's hands while she stood in front of her

Lea just gave us a sad look and we sat down at the table with her

"She's going to try and be more open with you guys" Lea says while still maintaining eye contact with Danielle;

"Right?" She ask and Danielle Just sighs and rolls her eyes

"Hey... come on, drop the attitude, we just talked about this Dani.... They're just trying to help" Lea explains and Danielle sighs but nods

"Okay" she whispers and lea stands up and wraps her arms around the younger girl

"You have your phone. You can call or text me anytime" Lea says and Danielle just nods before walking back the hall to her room

"She's going to be okay" Emily says and lea nods

"Yea I know," Lea says

"I have to get going. Thank you both again for this. You seen earlier. You might have to be a little stern with her. She hasn't had much structure" Lea sighs and walks to the door

"Okay.... Thanks again" Lea smiles, we said our goodbyes and she left, leaving the three of us in the house alone again

"Let's give her tonight to herself and tomorrow we'll try again" Emily says while taking my hand and kissing it softly

We moved ourselves to the couch and I laid comfortably against her,

"So, I know before lily we talked about maybe trying for a baby?" Emily says softly and I just nod in response

"Would you still want to?" She ask me and I sigh

"I don't know.... I wanted one when we had lily, but we don't have lily anymore" I say and Emily nods and runs her fingers through my hair,

"I know. But I also know how much we wanted this" she explains to me

"Can I think about it?" I ask her and she nods

"Of course,"
