Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 4

Emily's POV

Lily has a visit with her brith mom today, Lily  doesn't exactly love the visits but she will go with little protest

We usually meet her at the park or sometimes she comes here to the apartment, each visit is only for an hour and it happens around once a week,

Since it's an usually nice day in February today, we're going to the park, it gives them a chance to play together, 

But seriously, 70 degrees in February?

While JJ was working on getting a bag packed with snacks and everything else we might need I was left in charge of getting Lily dressed

"Mommy Emmy can I wear these?" Lily ask me, bringing me a pair of black leggings with light pink Hearts on them

"Of course baby love, can you get them on?" I ask and she nods and jumps around a little until she gets them on and I gave her a light pink shirt that was tied at the bottom

"Ready?" I ask and she nods and takes my hand

"How long are we going to be there?" She ask me as we walk out to JJ

"Just about an hour" I say and she nods

"You ready?" JJ ask us and we nod and follow her outside

Lily found a rock on the way to the car and kept kicking it in front of her

"Come here please" I say and she smiles and skips over to me and all

We had her rear facing when we first started fostering her since she was and is still so tiny but she hated how her legs didn't have room so after JJ talked with her pediatrician we moved her forward facing and she's happy

I got her buckled and got in the driving seat

JJ immediately took my hand as I started the 10 minute drive to the park

"We have a meeting with her social worker next week" JJ says and I nod

We know that Lily's birth mother has no chance of getting her rights back, so we are talking with the social worker about adopting her.

Obviously we still want Lily to have a relationship with her birth mom but we want to ensure that we could keep her with us

When we got to the park her birth mom was already here

"Okay baby love, let's get going" I say and help her out and she grabs my hand and JJs as we walk over to Mary, lily's birth mom

"Hi, it's good to see you all, Lily you look so pretty today!" Mary smiles and Lily does the same and looks up to me and JJ

"Go on, we'll be right over there okay?" JJ tells Lily and she nods

"Okay momma JJ, love you" Lily said she hugs JJ and me and walks to the structure with Mary while JJ and I sat on a bench

"You think she wants us to adopt her?" I ask JJ

"I'm sure she does, but we will talk to her" JJ says

"Im worried it won't go through" I say and JJ sighs and puts her hand on my leg but doesn't say anything, I know she is thinking the same things

We spent some time talking about random things until Lily ran over to us crying

JJ immediately took her into her lap and held her while Mary came over to us as well

"I was going to help you lily" Mary says irritated, but we just turned our attention to lily

"What happened baby?" JJ ask Lily and she just shakes her head so we looked to Mary for an explanation

"She wanted to show me how she could do the monkey bars but fell and scraped her knee" she explained to us

"But but look! It's messed up" Lily cries, showing us her torn leggings

"Is that what you're upset about?" I ask and she nods

"Baby we can go get more leggings, don't worry about that.. does your knee hurt?" JJ says and Lily nods

"Momma kiss it better?" Lily ask and JJ smiles

"You want me to?" She ask and Lily nods

Up until now, lily has only ever called her momma JJ,

JJ just smiled and kissed her knee, making lily stop crying and she just laid against her,

I completely forgot about Mary just standing there until I seen her look at JJ with a dark glare

"Lily why don't you go play some more before we head out" I say and she shakes her head

"Want to go home" she says and clings to JJ, I know this can't be easy for Mary to see,

"At least 5 more minutes bubs" JJ says and Lily starts to whine and hide her face

"She got up early this morning and spent the entire morning playing, she's just tired" I explain to Mary, and she nods

We did convince lily to sit and eat the lunch JJ had packed for us all, however as soon as she was done she was ready to go home

"Lily can I have a hug before you go?" Mary ask and Lily looks up to her and nods before getting out of JJs lap and letting herself be hugged

"I'll see you later, I love you" Mary tells her

"Bye bye" Lily says and goes back into JJs arms

We said goodbye to Mary and JJ got lily into her car seat

"Can we get leggings now?" Lily ask while rubbing her eyes

"We can order them as soon as we get home" I say and she nods

JJs POV

I felt kind of bad about what happened at the park, when Lily got hurt she wanted nothing to do with Mary

It took a lot of coaxing alone just for her to sit with Mary during lunch

When we got home lily was wide awake, how she got so much energy on the ride over here is beyond me

Once out of she car she ran to the door and jumped in place until Emily opened the door for her

"She's not tired anymore" she chuckles

"Of courses she's not" I say and Emily and I sit at the table

"Did you talk to  Penelope about keeping lily while we talk to her social worker?" Emily ask me and I nod

"Yes, her and Derek are going to come pick her up and take her out for breakfast, then they have something prepared, they said we shouldn't expect her back until dinner" I smile, our team loves lily and she loves them too, Derek is her favorite though

"They spoil her too much" Emily laughs and I do the same

"Oh yea they do" I smile

"Did you see the way Mary was looking at me?" I ask Emily and she nods

"Yea, she didn't look to happy about Lily calling me momma" I say, she looked like she wanted to kill me at that point

"No she didn't, speaking of lily, where is she?" Emily ask me, now that she mentioned it I didn't hear lily playing anymore

We got up and walked to her room and couldn't help but laugh at the sight in front of us

Lily fell asleep on the floor while laying on her stomach and one of her toys in her hand

"Maybe she was still tired"
