Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 12

Emily's POV

Lily seemed lost as soon as we got inside; I guess since she hasn't been here in a while it is a little different

"Are you hungry?" JJ had asked her and lily shook her head no

"What did you eat today?" I ask and she just looks up at me and shrugs

"How about JJ makes you a small snack then?" I ask and she just sighs and leans against me, JJ looked worried but busied herself in the kitchen while Lily and I went and sat on the couch

"Do you want to watch a movie baby?" I ask and she nods

"Monsters?" She ask quietly and I nod and put Monsters inc on and Lily relaxed into me even more

I didn't like how quiet she was being though, she was barely talking and when she did it was in whispers,

Lily's not a quiet kid, she loves to laugh and play and she absolutely loves to talk

JJ came out with a plate of apples and peanut butter, used to be one of Lilys favorite snacks Lily just looked at the plate before turning around to hide her face in my chest

"You have to eat, please" I say and pick Lily up to readjust her on my lap

She just crossed her arms and glared at me

"Wanted cuddles!" She exclaims, tears already filling her eyes

"We can cuddle while you eat, I promise. I'm not making you move" I say and she looks to JJ who just nods in response and sits next to us

Without saying anything else Lily began to very quietly and slowly eat the apples while she turns her attention back to the television

JJ still looked a little worried and her eyes and facial expressions were full sadness, I hated seeing her sad or anything but Happy

I know she wasn't completely happy without lily but she wasn't letting it affect her day anymore

While watching the film Lily wasn't engaged as she usually was but it was still getting some smiles out of her so we took it

"I have to pee" Lily says quietly, I almost didn't even hear her

"Can I use the potty?" She ask me and I frown

"Lily baby you don't have to ask, you know where it is" I say and she climbs off my lap and runs back the hall to the bathroom

"Come here love" I tell JJ once Lily was gone, she just sighed and laid in my lap,

"You know if something happened Lea would have told us" I tell JJ and she nods, Lea has been with us since we have started fostering, she's been a really great person

She's always updated us on our placements once they leave our care, so I know she would do the same with Lily,

"I know, I know" JJ says and I lean down and kiss her head before kissing her lips, both of us looking up when we heard Lily giggling

"What are you doing?" I smile, looking at Lily who was just standing in the hallway laughing

"You we're kissing momma JJ!" She says and runs over to us

"I always kiss her" I say and JJ laughs and pulls Lily into her lap

"You kiss me too.. all the time" Lily says and I nod,

"I did... do you not want me to?" I ask and she shakes her head

"No me like it when you do.. but.. Mary don't do that" she says and I could tell JJ tightened her grip slightly
