Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 11

JJs POV

It's been over a month since we have seen Lily, and things are slowly becoming okay

I still miss her more than anything but the fact that Lea hasn't called means she is okay, it means she is safe and Mary is passing all the necessary tests

I know Emily Is wanting to continue fostering, I know it's something she has always wanted to do, but I'm scared to get attached again

Yesterday we got in from a case and Emily and I decided it would be a good idea to deep clean the apartment,

We have been at it for hours this morning and I'm tired. We were supposed to go out with Penelope tonight, the three of us haven't had a girls night in a while

"Jayje! Come in here please" I heard Emily yell from the kitchen, I had just left to the bedroom for a Moment, I just needed a minute to myself

I walked out to Emily and she was leaning against the counter with a cup of coffee

"What's up" I ask and walk over to her, she immediately put her cup down and pulled me into her

"I got a message.... About 5 minutes ago from Mary" Emily tells me and I look up at her, my mind now racing a million miles an hour

"Is lily okay?" I ask immediately and she nods

"Yes... she actually says that Lily wants to see us and asked if we would meet at the park for a little" Emily says and I smile, I liked that, but it sounded sketchy

"What did you say?" I ask

"I didn't respond. I wanted to talk with you first" she says and I frown, of course my answer would be yes. Plus it gets me out of cleaning more

"Of course I want to" I say and she nods

"I figured but... do you think that's a good idea?" She ask and I frown and back away to stand next to her

"Why wouldn't it be?" I ask and she sighs

"I don't know" she says and and I nod

"You do Emily, you do. But, I want to see her." I say and she nods and grabs her phone to text Mary back

"Thank you" I say and grab her hands so I could step closer to her and she rest her hands on my lower back

"I love you," I say and she smiles slightly, now it seemed as if she was upset at me so I wanted to fix that

"I know... and I love you too" she says and kisses me softly just as her phone went off

I just leaned against her as she picked her phone up and looked at

"Mary wants to meet in 30" she says and I nod against  her

"Is this okay with you? I'm sorry I didn't ask before" I say, I realized Emily still didn't feel completely relaxed with me like she usually is

"Im okay with it, I've missed her too" she says and I nod and she kisses me again

She took my hand we went back to our room to change, I was just in a white tank too with grey sweatpants while Emily's outfit mirrored my own

Once we were changed we made sure we had everything and left

I was really nervous to be doing this, and I was confused on why Mary would all of a sudden just message us, I know she disliked how connected we were with lily

When we got to the park Mary and Lily were standing at the entrance, lily pointed at us and immediately ran to the car

We got out and lily ran into my arms

"Momma JJ! I missed you so much" she says and I pick her up and hold her against me, I never wanted to let her go

"Oh I missed you so much too" I say and she smiles and looks at me before reaching her arms to Emily, Emily easily took her

"Can we go play?" Lily ask us as we walk over to Mary

"Of course, let us talk to Mary for a second and we'll join you okay?" I say and she nods, Emily put lily down and she ran to the play equipment and we turned to Mary

"Why did you decide to reach out?" I ask the question had been bothering me since we got the text

"Because she just won't shut up about the two of you, all she talks about is you, I was tired of the fits she threw wanting to see you" Mary scoffs and we don't respond right away

"Well... thank you" I say and grab Emily's hand and we go meet lily who was just bouncing with happiness

"Come on!" She giggles and holds her hand out to us

We smiled and went to chase her around the play ground until she was breathing hard and reached up to me

She was still laughing as I picked her up, I didn't realize how much I had missed that sound since she had been gone

We walked over to the bench and sat down and she relaxed into me

"Can I go home with you?" She ask quietly without looking at us

"I'm sorry baby, you can't" Emily says and Lily nods

"Can we keep playing?" She ask us, twirling the ring around on my finger

"Of course.. what do you want to do?" I ask and we stand up

"Oh I want to show you something!" She exclaims happily and she starts running too the structure and we seen Mary stop her and say something, lily did not like whatever it was because she shook her head and continued runnings

We continued to walk over to see Lily better and we seen Mary walk over and stopped Lily, she had roughly grabbed her arm and smacked her three times on her back side

I think Emily and I were too shocked to say anything at the moment, we had watched Lily pull away and run over to us crying

"Momma" she cried and lifted her arms to me, I looked at Emily as I lifted Lily into my arms and she sobbed into my shoulder

"Lillian!" Mary scolds, coming over to us, Lily had tightened her grip on me as soon as she heard Mary

"Why would you do that?" Emily ask her

"She doesn't listen! Ever since being with you two all she does is throw tantrums and doesn't listen to a thing I say" she exclaims angrily

"Lily let's go now or you're in big trouble, I have things to do" Mary says and looks at the time on her watch

"Let us keep her, we'll bring her to you later" I say, still trying to calm Lily down. She wasn't crying as hard anymore but she still was

"Fine- I don't care whatever. But you bring her to me tonight" Mary says and we nod

"Just text us when you want her back" Emily says and Mary throws her hands up in the air before waking away

"You okay sweet girl?" I ask Lily and she nods, I knew she wasn't physically hurt, I didn't think so at least

"Let's go" Emily says and I nod

We didn't have a car seat for Lily anymore since we had given ours to Mary, for the time being we just buckled Lily in the back, we didn't live far from here anyway

It was after lunch when we got to the apartment, Emily had helped lily out of the car and took her hand

When we walked into the apartment lily just froze in the doorway, she was looking around at everything before looking up at Emily and I

I was a little confused as to what was happening but let her be,

She didn't waste anymore time before she lifted her arms up to Emily again
