Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 33

JJs POV

Alanna slept through the whole night without waking up once. Shannon did tell us that she slept through the night at home but we were still expecting her to wake up at least once since it was a new environment.

It's just after 8 now and Emily and Alanna are no where to be seen so I'm assuming Emily took her out this morning when she woke up. Danielle is still asleep cuddled into me so I know she hasn't realized yet

I ran my fingers gently through her hair, trying to coax her out of sleep as best as I can

"Wake up sweetheart" I whisper and run my free hand up and down her back

"No, I'm sleepy" she mumbles with her eyes still closed

"I know but you slept all night and now it's time to get up, I'm sure you can lay down with Alanna later" I say and she shakes her head and pushes into me

"Mo- JJ! Leave me alone" she whines and I smile and kiss her head

"Okay... well you're going to have to lay here by yourself cause I'm getting up" I say and maneuver my way out from her hold and into the bathroom, when I came back out she was still in bed so I picked out some clothes and quickly got dressed before heading out to the kitchen

"Hey... you're awake" Emily smiles from the kitchen table, I walk over to her and kissed her gently before going to get coffee

"How long have you two been awake?" I ask her, Alanna was sitting next to her eating pancakes and berries

"A little less than an hour" she says and I nod and lean against the counter

"Do you want pancakes? I can make you some quick" Emily offers and I shake my head

"No I'm okay, plus might have a little until Dani wakes up" I smile and Em nods

"Hers awake?" Alanna ask me

"If she's not out here by the time you get done eating we can go wake her up" I say and she smiles and continues eating breakfast

"I done now" Alanna says a few minutes later

"Okay let me wipe your hands and mouth off and we can go wake her up" I say and she nods

Emily already out Alanna's hair up this morning and she took her pajama top off, it's a good thing she did cause she would have had syrup all over it. I quickly wiped her off and helped her off the chair.

"Alright let's go wake up Dani" I say and she smiles and takes off running back the hallway to my room

"Dani!" I heard Alanna yell and when I got to my room she was trying and failing to climb into my bed

"Help, up" she tells me and I lift her onto the bed, the waste no time in jumping directly onto Danielle

"JJ! I'm sleeping" Danielle whines just like she did early

"Wake up!" Alanna squeals from sitting on top of Dani, just then does Danielle pull the blanket away from her face

"Come on, get up, Em is making you pancakes and Alanna's has been waiting all morning for you to get up" I say and she groans but sits up and Alanna climbs off of her

"Come here Alanna" I say and she crawls over to me so that I can pick her up,

"I'm going to get Alanna dressed, you need to get up love" I say and Dani nods while I pick an outfit out for Alanna as well as a new diaper

I sat on the ground with her and got her changed while Dani went into the bathroom

"Alright little one, all clean and dressed" I smile and help Alanna stand up before standing up myself, I threw her diaper away in the guest bathroom before washing my hands and taking
Alanna out to the living room so she could play while she waited on Danielle to eat breakfast

It didn't take long before Emily and Danielle came out to us. Emily sat with me on the couch and Danielle sat down on the floor with Alanna

"Can we go play in my room?" Danielle ask us and Emily nods, the two of them quickly got up and disappeared back the hall

"I think I want a baby" I tell Emily and she looks over at me and puts her phone down

"Yea? Thought you were no longer interested in having one" Emily mentions

"Well I also didn't want to foster anymore and here we are" I say with a smile, while I was against the idea of having Danielle here at first I am so glad she's here now

"So a baby?" Emily says and I nod

"Yea..... I mean I know it's expensive and can be time consuming but, I want to try" I say and she nods

"Okay...let's do it then," Emily says and I smile and lean over and press my lips against hers

"JJ! Emily!" Danielle called a few seconds later, Emily and I quickly got up and Danielle came out to us

"Something is wrong with Alanna" she says frantically as we went back to her room

"What's wrong?" I ask, when we got into her room Alanna was sitting on Danielle's bed and scratching at her neck, a sign that she needed her nebulizer

"Come here sweet girl" Emily says and picks Alanna up, she set up her nebulizer last night so it's already ready in our room

"Is she going to be okay?" Danielle ask me and I nod

"She's going to be fine, it's just her asthma." I assure Danielle

She still seemed pretty freaked out so I figured I would let Emily help Alanna before I took her back there

"Come on, let's go get some water" I tell Danielle and she nods and follows me into the kitchen

"What's Emily doing?" She ask me

"She's helping Alanna with her medicine, it will just take a few minutes and you guys can keep playing" I tell her and fill her glass with water along with Alanna's sippy cup

"Thank you" she says and drinks her water while I sit at the table

"When does she have to leave?" She ask me

"She leaves tomorrow before lunch, so you still have a whole day with her" I say and she nods and comes and stands in front of me

"Is she really my baby?" She ask me and I nod,

"Biologically yes" I say and take her hands in my own

"Then why doesn't she live with me?" She ask and I sigh

"Well, Dani you're 14, your childhood got stolen from you and Emily and I are trying to give it back. You're way too young to have to care for a child." I say softly, I didn't want to upset her but it's the truth

"But I want her to stay with me" she says and I nod

"Alanna will never be taken away from you. As long as Emily and I have a say in it you will be able to see her: but we are still going to take the responsibility of having her here so you don't have to be a parent" I explain and before she could respond Alanna came running into the kitchen

"Alanna, walking feet please" Emily warns and Alanna slows into a walk

"Hi!" She smiles and runs over to Dani

"Go play" she says and grabs Dani's hand. She looked at me once more before walking back the hallway with Alanna

"Everything okay?" Emily ask me and I nod

"Yea, everything fine"
