day 32

"Can you pass me a pillow?" I turn to ask Madi who is sitting by the window. For these thirty-two days, Madi sleeps on the sleeper chair next to the window and I sleep in the chair beside Alex.

A sleeper chair is like a chair but then folds out to be a bed. It's quite cool. She always offers me the sleeper chair but I always decline her offer. Madi says she can sleep on the chair instead but I refuse. The lady should be first. Even though the chair I sit in does get uncomfortable at times, Madi should be the one comfortable.

Madi nods and tosses me a pillow. I mumble a thanks in her direction before squishing and cuddling it. The chair I sit in is somewhat wide so I can bring my feet up on it.

"What time is it?" Madi whispers with her face buried in her pillow. I glance up at the clock and answer her, then readjust myself on the chair.

"7:49"

She groans in return and the corners of my lips start to curve up into a grin. It was nice to smile every once a while since hospitals are so depressing with it's pristine walls.

Sunlight starts to shine through the window due to the sun rising. We barely got any sleep last night, as usual, mostly because of us being worried. Oh, and don't forget about the round of nurses coming in and out every half an hour. Everyday nonstop.

I had to get out of their way for them to access the machines a couple of times. Poor Madi had to deal with me interrupting her sleep when I sat on her bed. I was way too tired to stand.

The nurses are so loud. There's no respect for people who sleep here in the rooms. But then I also need to respect them because of how they're taking care of Alex.

The others mentioned to not meet up for breakfast because the doctor said Luke will be getting a check up soon. They have been uneasy about him due to his broken bones and all.

All they do is stay in Luke's room, which I have no problem with. I do hope they eat, though. I don't doubt it since Andy eats her emotions and Ashton probably makes them eat.

Madi and I switch places to go see Luke and watch Alex since we now visit Luke at least once a day. He mentions every now and then that he appreciates us looking over Alexandra. I know that if I was in his place, I would want an update on her every second.

I unplug my phone from the charger on the bedside table and unlock it. I received a few messages from Mali and Liz. Mali's text was about making sure I ate and showered. Liz asked about Luke and I assured her that he's doing well and resting a lot. They both wanted to come to the hospital but I told them they should stay back at home. I don't want them to go through all that trouble with paparazzi and flights.

"I guess I'll go visit Luke." Madi sits up from the bed and stretches her arms out above her head. Her blonde hair was in a messy bun, and little pieces of hair sticked out from it. "I can go pick up breakfast for us before I come back, if you want?" She says in a form of a question before a yawn interrupts her train of thought. I shake my head before speaking.

"You can get something for yourself, but I'm alright." I reply while I hold Alex's hand and brush my thumb over her knuckles. She's still cold, but it seems warmer than before. If that's even possible. It might just be me hallucinating since I've been in this hospital for too long.

"Here," I stand up and walk her way before she leaves the room. I take out my wallet out of my sweats pocket. "Get whatever you want." I add, handing her a twenty dollar bill. I have a feeling she won't get anything unless I want something. She hasn't been eating much and I really don't want her to starve herself.
