Knocking on the door frame of her bedroom, Madi looks up at me from behind her laptop screen and smiles. Smiling back, I ask her a question.

"Have you seen Alex?"

"Last time I saw her was a few minutes ago when she came back from her run." Madi looks back at her laptop to type something. "I heard she went to the grocery store, but she might be back already." She suggests and I nod. I thank her and turn to walk away, but Madi stops me.

"Why?"

"Why what?" I look at her confused and she takes off her glasses, leaning back against her pillows.

"Why did you want to know?" Madi smirks and I sigh, walking in her room.

"I just wanted to work on the tour set with her." I nervously scratched the back of my neck and sit down in her desk chair.

"I thought you worked with Alex for some time earlier today?" She raises an eyebrow at me. "And by some time, I mean almost four whole hours." Madi smiles and I feel my cheeks warm up.

"We're adding two new songs to the setlist, remember?" I point out and Madi nods in acknowledgement.

"Thanks for reminding me that we need to rec-hey! We don't sing songs on tour before we have a studio version." She narrows her eyes and I smile nervously.

"You got me." I raise my hands up in surrender. "It might just be once, but I want it to be perfect."

"Something tells me you aren't talking about the setlist." Madi mentions and looks at me suspiciously.

"Are you working on school?" I try to change the subject and she giggles, but doesn't push it.

Madi tells me that she's working on exams before her winter break. She explains that they are worth a lot of her grade average, so she has to focus really hard.

"Do you need any help?"

"Says the boy who dropped out of school." She smirks. "Alex should be working on hers, too. You should help her." Madi winks and I roll my eyes at her.

"Whatever, I'm gonna go find her." I slip out before thinking what I said and she throws her head back in laughter.

"Can't blame a boy for looking for his love magnet." Madi jokes around and I flip her off whilst walking out of her room.

Making my way to the stairs, I look into Alex's room, which was the one right next to it. I find her sitting on the floor wrapping something.

"Madi told me you left for the grocery store a few minutes ago," I wanted to say but instead I said, "Hey."

Alex jumps in surprise and slides the present she was wrapping away from view. She looks up to see me by the door frame and blushes.

"Sorry, you scared me." She tucks a loose piece of hair behind her ear and I chuckle before apologizing. "Do you just lean on the frame to look cool?"

"You used to ask me that a lot." I point out and she gives me a half of a smile, looking down at her hands. "That present must be real secret, huh?" I mention and Alex's head pops right back up.

"No, just special," She scoots over after I ask to come in. "I hope he'll find it that way." She starts doubting.

"Is it for Luke?" I ask and stretch out my legs in front of me. Alex leaves her legs crossed.

"Why would you ask that?" She looks at me confused and I bite my lip to stop talking. I mentally curse as jealousy took over me. I really need to start thinking my words over. I shake my head to tell her to ignore that I said anything.
