"Where did you get that donut from?" Madi looks up from her papers, that she has been highlighting, and questions her older brother.
"Al-" Hunter begins to say as Alex walks down the stairs with Calum trailing behind her.
"Sorry, I took so long!" She exclaims and hands Natalie a cup of tea. "Sadly, we don't have coffee, but we do have tea and soda." Calum comes up from behind her to gently take his cup from her hands and smiles. She smiles back at him, before looking back at me.
"Oh, here's your tea." Alex says and I mutter a thanks, taking the cup from her hand.
"We, also, have two dozen donuts and a case of RedBull." Calum points out and motions behind him to the table set up in the corner of the room. "Thanks to Alex's amazing ex-boyfriend." Sarcasm is written all over his voice when it comes out of his mouth. Alex laughs at his statement whilst taking a seat on the couch. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion to her strange act. She was all besties with Josh earlier and now she's indicating he's terrible.
I am all up for agreeing that Josh is less than amazing. But is there something I'm missing?
Calum tries to make a subtle shake of his head when I send him a questioning look. I guess he'll talk to me later about it.
"What have y'all recorded yet?" Alex asks after taking a sip of her energy drink. The band and I try to stay away from that because it can turn out to be very bad for you.
"We recorded instruments for the songs." I join the conversation and enjoy the warm feeling coming from my cup held in my hands.
"We're waiting for you and Calum for bass, though." Andy adds to my statement before taking a bite of a glazed donut. She occupied a spot next to the table.
"No vocals?"
"You weren't upstairs that long." Ashton chuckles when he replies to Alex's question.
"I have been thinking about vocal arrangements." Madi puts her pink highlighter down and grabs the red plastic cup out of her brother's hand. She looks like a lightbulb just turned on in her brain. "However, nothing is quite solid." She shrugs after taking a sip of the caffeinated soda.
"Then you think while I go record." Alex gets up rather quickly from her seat, which catches us all off guard. She snatches the papers out of Madi's hands before closing the door of the recording booth. Natalie gets up from her seat, as well, to assist her bandmate.
"So, what exactly happened upstairs? You sure did take a long time for three cups of tea." I whisper to Calum, who came to sit beside me. He breathes out and his mouth sits in a straight line.
"I don't want to explain whilst Alex is near." He brings his cup up to take a sip. "Let's just say Josh is not going to show anytime soon." I notice Calum smirk a bit, which makes me feel relieved, too.
"I guess that's good enough." I try to hide my smile by drinking from my cup and Cal chuckles when he notices.
"Just try not to act too happy." We smile at each other.
"Alex's not okay about it?" I question and he shakes his head no.
"You saw it earlier. They were close buddies at the racetrack." Calum mentions making me sigh at remembering how possessive Josh was of Alex.
"He was acting really weird the whole time, though." I run my hand through my hair as he leans back, nodding.
"Yeah," He agrees. "Probably jealous." My bandmate smirks at me and I send him a raised eyebrow, clearly not understanding what he's saying.
