i knew my fate.
i knew my dream.
i knew what lied in wait.
i knew what it would mean.

i lift my head,
i gaze up high.
i felt my limbs as lead,
i basked myself in light.

the sea beckoned to me,
i dreaded its cold embrace.
it begged me to come and see
the treasures laid to waste.

the winds they took me,
and i swayed, enlaced.
they whispered at me to see
the paths they traced.

the world itself fought me back,
with all its rageful eyes.
it insisted i fell to black,
the end of my journey through skies.

i refused, even though
there was nothing i could do.
i refused to let you go,
to let the world take me from you.
