ほろ苦い (bittersweet)

the falling of leaves,
slow and irregular,
now everywhere around me.

the 'clap' with which they hit the asphalt,
a moribund sound
now cold-dead.

it is an honor,
to witness the end come
so gentle and kind.

it is an honor,
to know life will endure, still,
stubborn and steady.

funny note: this one started as a haiku but i IMMEDIATELY threw the idea away bc haiku actually suck! they're hard! anyways love u guys (not all of u but some of u surely)
