íkaros (ii)

6 2 4

i knew my own fate.
i knew what it meant.
there's no softening it:
this was my own hand.

i lift my head,
i gaze up high.
i feel my limbs as lead,
but i bask myself in light.

the sea beckons me,
i deny its gaping maw.
i thrash, and i scream;
i refuse to see the fall.

the winds they take me, now,
and i sway, enlaced;
my eyes, covered in cloud,
my path, already traced.

the world pulls me, ever near,
with all its rageful eyes;
it insists i fall, right here,
the end of my journey through skies.

now i cannot refuse, i see,
there is nothing i could ever do.
the Sun it comes, it swallows me,
and you drive me away from you.
