forgiveness

20 2 4

have you ever begged,
on your knees,
for salvation?

face in the ground,
hands clasping and
seeking validation

how long has it been
since you last
confessed?

head in the dirt,
tears running down
thoroughly invested

how do you expect
to find any peace
without pain?

you must give sacrifice
in order to feel
whole again

how do you expect
to be forgiven
for your sins?

you must acknowledge
the scars tracing
your skin

beg. beg. beg.
beg and plead and cry
and kneel

beg. beg. beg.
but understand, first,
what you feel

forgiveness can't
come if not first
from within, take
but also give

who have you been
begging to? the mirror
holds the one you
should forgive
