Chapter 5

Four's POV

We get on the train. For the first five minutes we spend it in silence but I can't take it anymore, so I decide to confront her about the previous meeting.

- Tris - I call. She turns towards me, raising an eyebrow. I clear my throat, not letting her mesmerizing eyes distract me. - What was that meeting about?

She sighs - Well, you heard jocelyn. We can't trust erudites, you know Eric, you've seen how they work, they won't back down so easily, we have to be prepared and protect the faction system.

I look at her and see the truth in her words.

- What are we gonna do then?

- Well I am planning on following Jocelyn's advice, and you'll support me - She gives me a look that says that I don't have a choice. I just nod and she visually relaxes - But about changing our initiation... well that's up to you, it's your area.

I stare blankly at her then nod. - We'll change it...but not too much.

- That's what you say now - Tris says with a smile that says "danger", but that only makes me want to get closer. To get lost in her eyes...and that scares me. I can't let my walls down, not with this girl that I just met yesterday.

- You don't know me - I say, my voice hard and cold.

- I don't need to.

We stay in silence until the compound comes into view. I jump first and start running, wanting to go to my apartment, lay down and forget about that girl.

- Hey! Wait up - She yells. I am tempted to stop, so tempted...but I don't. Cause I know that if I do I will never be able to get away. I just keep running, ignoring everyone, shoving my way to my apartment.

Once I get there I lock the door and throw myself at the couch. Why can't I stop thinking about her? She represents everything I hate. Her slutty clothes, the piercings, the tattoes, the dangerous aura around her, those ripped knuckles were not from the fall... She is one of those crazy junkees, but that seems fake to me. It's not the real her.

And it scares me, it scares me because I want to uncover her truth but that would imply getting close to her and open up, but what scares me the most...is that I don't really mind.

An angry knock on the door wakes me up. I look at my clock and see that it's only 6:00 pm. I grogly stand up and walk to the door.

-WHAT? - I yell, not even caring to see who is at the door.

-Well hello to you too - Says a sarcastic voice, a voice that suddenly has become familiar to me. Tris.

-How did you know where I live? - It's all that comes to my mind. She rolls her eyes.

-Zeke - Is all she says. Well, that makes sense.

I am about to invite her in but I don't, no has ever been in my room except for Zeke and I wasn't about to change that.

- What are you doing here? - I ask, putting my 'Four' mask on. For some reason, this question seems to anger her cause now her face is red raw, I can almost see the steam coming out of her ears.

-Well, since you so kindly let me alone before even though I know you heard me, don't even try to deny it! - She points at me - I had to talk to Max alone so tomorrow you'll go and report yourself just like you are supposed to.

I am speechless, what the hell did I get myself in to?

- I didn't know - Is all I say.

- I was going to tell you but you just ran off!

- I didn't know there were rules I needed to follow, we are the leaders!

She turns around muttering something that sounds like "stupid guys" or "pansycakes".

- If you want to know the rules just ask Max or any other leader, just don't walk away again like that unless you have a good damn reason - She says this in a low dangerous voice and then walks away, leaving me stunned at the doorway.

I swear this girl is gonna be the death of me...and I have only known her for two days.
