Chapter 26

Tris' POV

I silently enter the compound. When I told tobias I was coming today I didn't especify, I was coming early, really early. It's almost 5:00 AM and I am trying to make the least noise as possible, still there are a few dauntless drinking by the chasm. I give them a wave but they are too drunk to even notice. I recognice Zeke to be one of them, the one passed out on the floor.

I walk towards him and without a word lift him up. The boys wolfwhistle and I flip them off. I am definately not in mood for this. I carry, more like drag, Zeke to Uriah's apartment and leave him on the doorstep. I knock loudly and a minute later the door swings open revealing a sleepy Uriah with a teddy bear on his arm. I roll my eyes at this.

- Do you know what time is it? - He asks. I just point at Zeke.

- He is your problem now - I turn around and make my way to my apartment. I get there and take a quick bath...that turns out to be a long one. It is now 6:30 AM and I am all wrinkled. I resamble a white raisin. I put on some underwear, short shorts, a crop top and my leather jacket to cover my back tattoo. I put on minimal make up and decide to head to Tobias apartment to take a nap at his place. He must be at the training room and I want to rest and not be bothered by my friends.

I get there and find the door slightly open. I go in and head straight to Tobias' bedroom to find an awful sight. Tobias is sprawled over the bed with an empty bottle of vodka, at least I think it's vodka, hanging on his hand by the side of the bed. I walk closer and see some marks on his shirt, neck and face. A feeling of dread spreads through me when I recognize them as lip marks, lipstick. Lips that were on him, on his neck, on his lips, lips that are not mine. I wipe my tears off and stomp to the kitchen, where I get some pills from the counter and a glass of water and leave them on his night table.

I head out and walk to the training room. It seems I won't be getting any sleep anytime soon. I look at my watch and see that it is already 7:15. I, well Four, is15 minutes late.

I open the doors and find some initiates hitting the punching bag, some practicing with the guns (I don't know where did they get that from) and some sitting on the floor staring into space.

- Inituates! - I yell over the noise. One by one the quit their activities until I have their full atention, some are checking me out and a redhead girl is glaring at me. - Well - I begin pacing - Four is kinda...busy - I spit in anger - right now so I'll be training you until he decides to appear.

They don't move so I just glare at them, some flinch and others glare back. Puff the nerve of some.

- Why should we listen to you? - Derren, the first jumper, says. I smile without real happiness.

- I am sorry, let me introduce myself - I cross my arms over my chest, straighten myself and lift my head higher. - I am Tris, dauntless prodigy AND dauntles leader.

Their jaws drop to the floor.

- Now, I know you already worked with guns so today I am going to teach you how to fight - Someone laughs but covers it with a cough, I think it was the redhead. - Everybody go and stand in front of a punching bag.

- You can't tell me what to do! - The redhead yells, attracting everyone's attention. I just roll my eyes, I am really not in mood to deal with this, damn you Four!!.

- Actually - I pick on my nails to give more effect - I can, and I will. Ladies and gentlemen here we have our first factionless!

The initiates gasp as the face of the insolent girl matches her hair.

- You are a b*tch! - the girl spits.

- Chloe! - Another girls scowls. She is pretty, light brown hair and beautiful and kind brown eyes.

- If you say so, then it must be true - I start towards Chloe - you recognize your own kind, don't you?

The male initiates all start laughing and yelling "BURN" while jumping. I just roll my eyes again and make a sign to shut them up.

- Go to the punching bags, no ifs, no buts.

They obey and I start teaching them basic punches and kicks which they all master pretty quickly. I correct their stance and give them some pointers until it's time fot lunch.

- Lunch time! - I yell, honestly relieved. They all run out of the run and I follow behind. I stop just outside the the dinning hall, praying that Four won't be there. My prayers were heard.

I sit with the initiates receiving strange glances from my friends and the intiates but I pay no attention to it. I quickly finish my food and throw the leftovers away. The initiates follow and soon we are back to the training room.

They have been practicing for about 30 minutes when suddenly the doors burst open and Four enters. He has dark circles under his eyes and looks tired but apart from that he looks fine.

- I am sorry initiates but...- He stops dead in his tracks when he notice me there. - Tris?

I just glare at him and let my eyes show how hurt, angry and betrayed I feel. He just stands there and then starts walking again but this time towards me.

- What are you doing here?

I look at him dead in the eyes and whisper so the initiates can't hear.

- Well since you were very busy partying and kissing girls - I spit - then treating a hangover to come and train your initiates as a leader I took your place, you're welcome.

I step back and turn around, heading to the exit.

- Tris! - He calls, his voice booming through the place. I just ignore him and walk out.

The first tear falls and soon more follow.
