Daisy Tyler is a regular 21-year-old in 2005 who has always lived in her sister's shadow and never once gotten her mother's love growing up. The only person keeping Daisy happy and making her get out of bed in the morning was her Goddaughter Lucinda who she took in at age 16 after the 9-year-old parents were killed in a pub shooting in London.

Lucinda (Lucy, sweetie - Daisy's nicknames for her. Sweetheart, princess - the Doctor's nicknames for her.) is an ordinary 9-year-old who lives with Daisy at Mickey Smith's flat after witnessing Jackie Tyler kicking them out when Daisy first took her in.
Lucinda isn't stupid, she's really bright for her age and knows Daisy's family doesn't like them and always places Rose first before Daisy. She knows Daisy likes to be strong in front of her but sometimes at night when she thinks Lucinda is asleep, she cries looking at photos of her dad Pete Tyler and how happy her family used to be, not knowing Lucinda sneaks out of bed to check on her.

The Doctor has been alone since the loss of his people and home planet. When he meets Daisy and Lucinda, he finds himself doing the impossible by falling for a human at the same time as being a father figure towards her Goddaughter.
The three together find themselves almost inseparable and accepting each other for who they are, no matter how bad and dark their pasts are. But when Bad Wolf, Daleks, and the Game Station happens after Captain Jack Harkness joins them, it's down to the Doctor and Daisy to make sure Lucinda's safety comes first, no matter the consequences.
