I wake up and immediately throw the covers off of me, today is the volleyball tournament and I have exactly an hour to get ready. Jere and I picked out blue as our color and our team name was 'phoenixes' I don't know why but he liked it so we went with it. Taylor should be here any minute so I need to go downstairs and get myself something to drink

I was pouring some pre-workout into a black bottle when I heard someone come around the corner "hey, Tate," Conrad says while walking across from me "Hey, con," I say while looking up at him for a split second

"What's that?" he asked while I continued to put the power into the bottle "My secret weapon," I say smiling "Hmmm," He says while shaking his head

"Feeling good about the tournament?" He asks "Yea, I'm ready," I say looking at him "If you stay ready, you won't have to get ready.." He says confusing himself and me "That was cheesy," I say while laughing

"you try, you try coming up with a motivational phrase with no cheese," He says laughing along with me "Hmmm. I'm thinking, Yea I got nothing," I say while looking up and I can feel his eyes still on me

"Yea that's what I thought," He says laughing and then it goes silent and I stir my drink together "Tate?" He says breaking the silence "Yeah?" I ask not looking up at him

"I'm sorry," He says which caught me off guard "For being cheesy?" I ask even though I know what he means

"For not treating you right," he says while staring at me "we aren't all perfect," I say which causes him not to know what to say "I wasn't fair with you either, you're fine," I finish

"Tate, no. I was such an ass to you and I still am." He says while letting out a huff of air "I should have never said half of the stuff I did or done what I did. That wasn't fair to you and it's not fair to Nicole either," He says and I just look at him "I don't know what to say,"

"I get it, just know that I don't want to lose you in my life," He says just before the bell rings causing me to look toward the door "Uh, it's Taylor. I gotta- gotta get that," I say while walking away

I open the door and rush into my sister's arms "Ugh, I have missed you so much Tay," I say smiling "I missed you too Tate," She says while hugging me tighter

"Taylor?" I hear Belly yell as she walks out the door. I let go of Taylor and she goes right for Belly "Oh, I'm so happy you're here," Belly says while holding onto Taylor as if her life depended on it

"Where's my shirt? We're going to kick all of their asses," Taylor says smiling "Not Jere and I," I say raising an eyebrow while Taylor rolls her eyes

"Good afternoon. I'm Susannah Fisher, chair of the club's community service board, and I am delighted to welcome you to Play It Forward!" She says causing many to cheer around us "You know, as my mother used to say, if you're lucky enough to be at the beach, you're lucky enough, and we are very fortunate indeed. Which is why in the spirit of fun and friendly competition it is time to open our hearts and our wallets and give back to those who may not be as fortunate."

"We have teams raising money for homelessness, women's shelters, environmental causes, and many more, and Play It Forward will match pledges for the winner of the tournament!" Susannah says causing everyone to cheer again

"You are going to win," Dylan says as the voices start to fade in the background "I know, gonna kick some ass today," I say smiling and he leans down to give me a kiss

"You are gonna kick all their asses," He says smiling as I turn my head to the side to see Conrad staring at me with a sad look on his face, but I brush it off and turn back to Dylan "Let's go warm up," Jere says while putting a hand on my shoulder

"Okay, yea. Bye Dyl I'll see you after we win," I say giving him one more kiss before I turn around and head toward the sanded court "I'm still team Cate," Jeremiah says while laughing "yea, whatever," I say pushing his shoulder and laughing
