"Hey, you wanna go for a swim with me?" Belly asks while stepping into my room "Yea just give me a minute," I say standing up and walking toward the little dresser in her as she leaves the room and closes the door behind her

I grab my black two-piece bathing suit and lay it out on my bed. I take off the clothes I had put on to go to sleep and slipped my bathing suit on, I grabbed my towel and walked toward Belly's door to tell her I'm ready. We walked downstairs but Belly got stopped so I just walked out without her.

I shut the door behind me and saw Conrad sitting on the edge of the pool with a joint in his hand and his legs swinging in the water "I thought you said smoking pot changes the way your brain processes information?" I ask while walking closer to him

"So does your cell phone," He says looking up at me while I sit down next to him "Didn't you say that marijuana messes with white matter?" I say turning my head to look at him

"Do you even know what white matter is?" He says laughing and looking at me "You said o-our brains are still developing and that..." I start to say before he cuts me off

"God, do you memorize every single thing that I've ever said," He says smirking "Oh, you wish," I say scoffing and rolling my eyes

"I mean, Conrad you're the one who said that-that smoking's dumb and that real athletes don't put that shit in their bodies," I say in a low voice, "I said a lot of stuff," He pauses "and I'm not an athlete anymore, so." He says lifting the joint up

"Which I still haven't asked you about. Why did you quit?" I ask while raising an eyebrow "It doesn't matter." He says looking me in the eyes

"Whatever," I say rolling my eyes "But I still think you should quit smoking," I said still looking at him.

He takes a hit and blows the smoke out before saying "What'll you give me if I do?" it goes silent for a second as we just look in each other's eyes "Well we will discuss that if you quit," I say letting out a light laugh before we both go silent again

"Why didn't you say Hi to me when you got here?" Conrad asks while looking down at his legs "I didn't think you'd want me to speak to you, I mean that is what you said the last time I saw you," I say

"You know I didn't mean that," he says and turning his gaze back on me "I don't even know what you mean anymore," I say

"Tate..." He starts to say but is cut off by Belly coming out the door "Whatcha guys talking about?" She says smirking

"Nothing," I say while standing up "Uh, I actually don't feel good so I don't think I'm gonna swim right now,"

"That's okay," She says before setting down her towel and diving into the water, I can feel Conrad's gaze on me as I walk back into the house

"you aren't swimming?" Laurel says when she sees me walk in "No, I don't feel good. I think I'm just gonna go lay down," I say with a smile on my face

"Okay, well feel better. If you need anything I'll be down here," She says looking back down at her phone "okay, thank you." I say before walking away

"The boy's left and went to that bonfire," Belly says while walking into my room "Why didn't you go?" I ask sitting up

"Because they wouldn't let me go," She says falling backward onto my bed "Didn't that guy at the gas station invite you?" I say looking down at her

"yes," She says groaning and rolling over "Wait if he invited me that means I don't need permission from the boys to go," She says with a smile on her face

"yes, go have fun," I say pushing her "Wait, how are you gonna get there?" I ask

"I'll walk," she says shrugging her shoulders "Then I have to go, Laurel would murder me if she found out I let you walk alone at night," I say standing up

"Go call Taylor and have her pick out your outfit and meet me downstairs in 10," I say pushing her out of my room so I can get changed. I put on a pair of black ripped jeans and a crop top with a dark green flannel over top just in case I get cold. I brush through my hair and then put on some mascara.

I walk out of my door and wait for Belly at the bottom of the stairs. After about 2 minutes she comes down wearing a pink dress with her hair half up half down. "isn't that Tay's dress?" I ask knowing I bought that for Taylor two months ago "yes," she whispers back. We sneak out and begin our walk to the beach
