Conrad and I had been sitting on the beach for a few hours, not talking, just taking in the view and each other's company but Conrad decided to break that silence "I'm glad Jere got her to do the treatment," He says while looking forward

"I'm sure you also had some part in that," I say knowing that he definitely had some part in that. "I don't know what I'm gonna do without her if the treatment fails," He says with his voice breaking a little

"Don't think like that. It's gonna work and you are gonna be there for her every step of the way," I say while resting my head on his shoulder. It goes quiet again for a minute "Tate, I'm sorry for being so shitty all summer," He says while wrapping an arm around my back

"I mean, you were going through all this alone, I wish you would have told someone so you didn't have to," I say while lifting my head off of him "I wanted to. I almost told you a couple of times," He says while turning his head to look at me

"We should probably go in," I say "There are so many things I want to say to you," He says while looking at me the way he used to "Don't," I say while standing up

"Why?" He says also standing up "'cause you really, really, really need somebody right now, and I don't want to be the kind of person who takes advantage of that," I say looking up at him

"I don't just need somebody... I need you," He says almost making me give in "I don't want you to need me," I say just staring into his eyes "I want you to want me," I finish saying

"I do want you, Diamond," He says and I'm taken back to the summer I fell in love with him. Diamond was the nickname he gave me because of my last name, he said that diamonds were his favorite jewel so he should call me that because I'm his favorite.

That's the moment I fell in love with him and now it feels like I'm falling in love all over again. I just look at him and I see him dart his eyes back and forth between my lips and eyes "Just kiss me you idiot," I say and then he grabs my face and kisses me

God how I've missed his lips. They feel like home, they feel like safety. Soon things start to get a little heated and he lays me down on the blankets we brought out here. His hands start to roam under my shirt which causes me to gasp at his cold fingers on my stomach.

He uses that as his chance for his tongue to roam my mouth. I let out a whimper as he continues to touch my body "God, I've missed this," He says between kisses "As much as I want to continue this, it's 7 in the morning and we need sleep," I say pulling away from him no matter how much I want to do this, I don't want him to see me as something to make him feel better

He kisses me one more time before saying "Only if you sleep in my bed," He says while hovering over me with a smile. "of course," I say kissing him quickly before sitting up

I grab the blankets while shaking off the excess sand, we make our way back to the house and drop the blankets in the laundry room before making our way upstairs "I need to change and so do you," I say while walking toward my room

I pull out a grey oversized shirt and spandex, I slip them on, and then make my way back into Conrad's room. I knock on the door and I hear him mumble come in so I walk in and see him already in his bed half asleep "Come here," He mumbles and I walk over toward the bed and slip under the covers

Once I'm under the covers he pulls my body closer to him so my head is resting on his bare chest. "I love you, Diamond," He says in a sleepy voice "I love you too, Con," I say leaning up to kiss his cheek.
