Welcome to One Piece One-Shots. It's funny, how I'm at like 100 one-shots. How in the world have I gotten this far? Like dang. Whatever y'all, enjoy this one-shot.
The noise of ambulances and flashing lights echoed around me, ER doctors ran in and out of my house. I held tight to my shirt, the tears pouring down my seven-year-old face. I violently sobbed as I watched my house burn down, the fault of pirate lootings and such. The fear swarmed me as I realized I'm never going to be able to live like I did before.
Then I shot up and I started to cry. "That stupid nightmare again..." I muttered. I curled up, pulling my blanket tighter around me.
Sitting in silence, trying to get my mind off of the dream, I heard a knock at my door. "Come in." I mumbled, only loud enough for the person outside to hear. "Hey, YN, I'm hungry, you want to-" Cracker said as he walked into my room, but once he locked eyes on me, his expression changed drastically. "YN. What happened?" He asked, his tone concerned, and much lighter than usual. "A-Ah, just a nightmare." I claimed, holding back tears. He sighed, then in the blink of an eye, he was sitting down next to me on my bed.
"I told you to come get me when things like this happen." He said, "I can't stand to see you in this state." The normally tough, purple-haired man pulled me into his chest. "I didn't want to wake you up." I murmured, still trying not to cry in front of him. "I don't care if you have to wake me up, I'd rather be here with you and be able to look after the love of my life while she needs it, than get maybe an extra hour or so of sleep. I was awake, anyways, as you can tell." He said, gently rubbing my back as an attempt to calm me down. I had no response, so I simply nodded.
Silence came over the room, but Cracker was never a fan of that. "What was the nightmare about, anyways?" He inquired bluntly. "A-Ah... You know... Just... Stuff." I sputtered, trying to avoid the topic. "YN... It won't get any better if you just keep it up inside." He said, staring into my eyes. I turned away and sighed. "More of my childhood, as you'd guess." I claimed, holding on tight to the man, his warmth slightly comforting. "Ah, say no more. I'm sorry I asked." He said, pulling my blanket tight over the two of us. He placed a small kiss on my forehead, and he laid my head on his chest. I could hear his gentle heartbeat in my ear, and the slight up and down of his chest from his breathing felt like a gentle rock.
He noticed my calmer expression, it was no longer of genuine fear or sadness anymore, which made him smile a little. "So ol' Cracker did his job right, huh." He said, the vibrations from his voice making my heart swell a little. I nodded, making a small humming sound of approval. "I'm glad..." He whispered as I began to fall asleep, "I'll be right here, YN, so don't worry about a thing." He gently stroked my hair as I entered the land of dreams once more, this time a more happy one of our future together.
