an acquaintance

Several weeks had passed, and it felt like year for Soobin. What concerns him is, Yeonjun hasn't sent him a letter. Usually, the chaos prince would sent him tens of letters with a random thing inside; could be a petal, a grass, a leaf, or a butterfly wing.

Soobin admits, the days for him was a bit sad since he hadn't read Yeonjun's messages.

The moon prince, as usual, sitting at in front of his table. Although the table has a mirror, he chose to cover it with a black cloth so he wouldn't see his appearance. He doesn't feel insecurity when he doesn't see his face.

"I wonder what he is doing right now." Soobin mutters, leaning at the table, currently thinking what he should do for a day. Sunhee is on trip, Byungho is in Blue Lily Kingdom, and Beomgyu is probably playing with the children outside.

Seconds later, he thought of buying a flower for Yeonjun, for the next time they meet.

"I should. It should now be me who'll spoil him." Soobin confidently says, standing up before the table.

As soon as he reaches his cabinet, he noticed that the pouch of his savings is missing. Soobin started panicking as he never touched the pouch.

"Shit, where is it!?" He hissed, opening every cabinet, or doors inside his room. Not long ago, he realized that his mother always comes to his room whenever he leaves.

"Well, only one way to find out."

He chanted in his mind while on his way to his mother's room. The idea seemed risky, but who cares? He needs his money back, quick.

Entering the room, Soobin saw how neat the room is. Of course, it's Sunhee we're talking about, she's obsessed in cleaning everything, and anything.

While searching through the cabinets, he saw few envelopes scattered at his mother's table. The envelopes seems familiar. It has the same color as Yeonjun sends him.

Soobin decided to check the content of the envelope, and to his half-surprise, it was Yeonjun's letter for him. Sunhee has been gatekeeping the letters from him, some letters were from last month, and some letters are those he received last week.

"So this is the reason why I sometimes don't understand what he is saying when we meet." He murmured.

Soobin quickly grabbed the remaining envelope and decided to search for his pouch again.

By the time he found his pouch, his mother came in. Her eyes were droopy, and her body was wiggling.

"What are you doing in my room, Soobin?" She calls, she doesn't realize that her son is holding what she intended to keep away from him.

Soobin did notice this. "Just- dropping by. I'll be going." The prince stutters, but left the room hurriedly.

The prince's blood boils, but now, it doesn't. He knew he is going to read Yeonjun's letters again, and he knew it'll make him feel better no matter what is written inside.

As he reached his room, he quickly sat on the round stool and opened the envelope. As Soobin expected, there were the random things. The few things were dried leaf, a seed, and a purple petal; there were lots of things, so he decided to put them on a glass jar.

After organizing the materials, he went on reading the letters.

dear soobin, i wonder where were you these past few days..

dear soobin, look, i found a butterfly wing again.

dear soobin choi, let's meet at the heliocentric cliff!

dear soobin, are you busy? so much work for a moon prince huh? here's a gem i found in one of my cabinets!

to the soobin i know, i heard that rising moon is very busy these days? i hope i don't bother you for sending too much letters.

dear choi, a choi like me, how are you? still busy, no wonder you're always tired when we met last month. :(

Soobin felt bad, but at the same time, angry. He was supposed to meet Yeonjun at the heliocentric cliff, but sadly the invitation later was restricted from him.

But, reading some of those letters made his heart happy. Some letters were updates, and some were just random thoughts.

"I better prepare for our another meet up."

He thought, he kept the envelopes in his cabinet, then snatched his pouch of savings.

Soobin wore a white cloak, then running through his 'emergency' escape window.

As his feet landed on the bare grass, Soobin immediately dashed away from the castle's premises.

"Why is my grandson sad?" Asked grandma Chae, frowning. She noticed that Yeonjun was less energetic than he is usual to.

Yeonjun looked at her, "I'm fine. Don't worry." The younger replied, giving his grandmother an assuring smile.

The old lady just nodded, and spoke, "if you say so." then went out to the garden.

When Yeonjun was finally alone in the balcony, his face became more sadder. It's been three weeks since Soobin sent him a message.

"Why am I even sad? He's a moon prince, it's normal that he's busy." He whined, trying to convince himself. A part of him is waiting for Soobin, and the other one is impatient.

Usually, Soobin sents a long paragraph letter. And sometimes, when Yeonjun is bored, he'll count the numbers that Soobin used in the letter that he sent him.

The chaos prince stood up, watching as the sun go down, and moon rise.

"Oh, it's his time again." Yeonjun exclaimed, his heart warming up, and him unconsciously smiling.

"Maybe, I should wait longer." Yeonjun says, as he watches the moon rise, the sky falls into darkness.
