expect the unexpected

Yeonjun is busy doing chores, specifically, sweeping the floor. He was giddy dancing while doing so, he feels happy today as his nanny said that she'll leave for an hour.

Although they have maids, and butlers, Yeonjun chose to clean the mansion by himself, but excepts the 2nd floor. He hates the second floor with all his heart.

"Finally, alone time. I hope she's doing fine tho." Yeonjun speaks, sweeping the dust until it reaches their front door. Well, their mansion isn't that messy, just dusty.

After sweeping, he went to fetch the wet cloth and started wiping the windows. Yeonjun doesn't care what he do, as long as he's alone, he's fine.

Moments later, the young man heard a knock from the door.

"Hold on! I'll be there!" Yeonjun shouts, placing the wet cloth over the windowsill. He dashed towards the door, thinking it was one of their neighbors, Haena.

As Yeonjun opened the door, the person stood there surprised him.

"Hello, Yeonjun." The man greeted, eyes looking at Yeonjun. The young man didn't know how to feel. Should he be sad? Mad? Or glad?

Yeonjun's mouth were shut close, he doesn't know what to say.

"Hello.. Eunhi.." the young man managed to reply. He wasn't scared, it's just that, he didn't expect that his father to stand in front of him.

Eunhi, his father, smiled at him. Then, he called someone to stand beside him. A lady, in her mid 30s appeared, she is a fine lady; light brown eyes, black hair, and tan skin.

"This is Leehwa, your step-mother. She's from the Purple Raven." Eunhi happily introduced Leehwa to his son, Yeonjun.

The young man wasn't happy to hear what his father just said. He cannot just bring a lady, and barged into their mansion.

Eunhi scoffed, "look, this is for the kingdom. If we cannot save the kingdom, who will!?" The elder replied, his voice gradually becoming louder.

Yeonjun looked at him with an angry look in his face. It was maddening, how can his own father talk like this?

Leehwa noticed that the young man was clenching his fists, as she was about to reach for him, Yeonjun moved backwards.

"I will never forget what the ravenous did to mom. They humiliated her." Yeonjun's voice cracking as he said those words. That night was cruel, he saw his mother cry in front of his eyes.

"And you weren't even there! You were having fun, flirting around with those same species that humihilated mom." The young man added, his tears blocking his vision. His sight became blurry, his heart was beating loudly.

As Eunhi was about to speak, Leehwa knelt to the ground, "I apologize on behalf of my species." She says, her head not leaving the soil.

"Don't do this, Leehwa, it's not your fault!" Eunhi cried, forcing Leehwa to stand up. The scene, his father's words made Yeonjun's heart pain, his tears rolling down his cheeks, and his anger fueling even more.
