Hello! How is everyone doing? I wrote this short story when I was bored at school, I hope you enjoy it!
TW: Major Character Death
(whoops, that's not a very good omen, is it?) 😅I looked over the edge and took a deep breath. One foot forward and I let myself fall. "You coming?" I heard you ask just as my feet hit the ground a couple meters below. I nodded and ran after you, holding your hand tightly in mine. "Can you believe it?" You said with a far-off look, "we're free!" You closed your eyes and looked upward towards the sky, soft droplets of the light drizzle wetting your beautiful face. "We're finally free!" You sighed while I remained silent next to you. I looked around, gaze intent on any detail I could retain to better remember this moment. You gently pulled my hand and we were in motion, grass disappearing under our feet, color bleeding from our sight. "What's happening?" Your fingers trembling in my grip, eyes frantically looking around. With a loud snap, the sun was gone and we were plunged into an eerie darkness. "What's happening?" You repeated, until I could no longer feel your hand in mine, your breath next to mine, your heartbeat and love and warmth gone. I shouted your name, a disgusting echo returning my distorted voice but never yours. And then bright white lights flared up above and I was in an empty world completely blank, a gross canvas where I was alone. A black line appeared right before me—a new edge to this world that was not real—, the side darkening. I was trapped again (by the stupid whims of an idiot) and this time you had been erased. STAY HERE, a messy calligraphy written in the white sky before me. I glared at those words, at the emptiness around me, and I missed you, I wanted you back... New lines appeared far behind me, trees and grass and life returned. STAY HERE, the words glowed before me. So I looked over the edge, at the darkness below me, and took a deep breath. STAY HERE. One foot forward and I let myself fall.
