The Lady and the Lord

Summer inspirations by watching my shadow on the ground. Wow

I could be that lady
Draped in dresses and gowns
Silvers and frowns.
I could sway in the halls
Smile at those lords.
Swoon when they bow
When they caress my brow.
I could dance nights away
Just flirting all day.

And yet in my heart I know
The makeup and grins
Are merely a scene
I put up every day
To keep the voices away.

I could be that lord
Draped in capes and swords
Tunics and bows.
Winning around
All glory to be found.
I could make ladies sway
When we merely cross ways.
Fight from morn till dawn
My worries all gone.

And yet in my heart I know
The tunics and grins
Are merely a scene
I put up every day
To keep the voices away.

Because no matter how I try
It'll always be a lie
To those who must seek
What lies underneath
The dresses and gowns
The tunics and capes.
They'll always betray
That at the end of the day
I'm nothing more than a fake
Trying to live a life
Of silvers and frowns
Swords and bows
Glory and shame
Never the same.

Forget what I say
I'll keep the monsters at bay
Even if by the end of the day
In my heart I well know
The frowns and grins
Are merely a scene
I put up every day
To keep the voices away
