There once was a fairy who lived on the Wood's edge.
She strolled down the darkened paths swinging a basket at her side.
I once heard of a fairy who lived on a wood's edge.
She hummed and skipped, a basket swinging at her side. There once was a big dark spirit that loved the pretty fairy.
They followed her from afar wishing that a flame would spark.
I once heard of a dark spirit who wished for a rainbow soul.
They wished and dreamed, but never got what they longed. There once was a shattered dream in fields of poppy and gray.
A fairy and a spirit there lay, forgotten by day.
I once heard of a clearing, far from the Wood's edge.
A field of red and gray, the remain of what I'd pledged. There once was a lonely writer, who played with tears and words.
They smiled and waved, a fairy humming in the Wood's edge.
I once heard of a writer whose secrets lie with black birds.
Crows and ravens fly, words whispered as they die. There once was a shattered dream, a lost hope and a last breath.
There once was an inky dot, and it all died with that drop.25th September '22
