This is one of my most favorite poems. It has a bit of a song structure and I really enjoyed writing it.
In a library dark and gray
A ghost once upon a time lay.
Condemned to a life eternal
They read and read
Book after book, journal after journal.A list long as life
Slithered along the library tiles
Growing ever so longer
As book after book
Was added to the endless pile.O' ghost, so lonely and old
Why must thy read an endless sea
Of ink and life, books and mold?
Forevermore cursed, forevermore gone
In an endless sea of words and thrones. In a library dark and gray,
A child once searched for the perfect shade
A dash of fantasy, a sprinkle of love,
And most important: dragons and ghosts,
To light up the plot.
And their hand reached out
To grab an old book
And what a surprise when it suddenly shook.O' ghost, so lonely and old
Why must thy read an endless sea
Of ink and life, books and mold?
Forevermore cursed, forevermore gone
In an endless sea of words and thrones. The forgotten cursed ghost,
Had been reading that tome,
And had never expected to be found all alone.
But instead of fright,
The little child smiled,
And simply sat on the floor
And read aloud for the ghost. And little by little,
Word after word
The long list grew shorter
Until it never existed
Until the curse was broken
And the curse was forgotten
The ghost at last saved,
Saved by a child
Who loved fantasy and smiles
A sprinkle of love and dragons and ghosts.Goodbye, ghost, so lonely and old
No more you'll fill an endless sea
Of ink and life, books and mold.
Nevermore cursed, forevermore gone
In an endless sea of words and thrones.(October 8th '23)

Short StoryA collection of poems and short stories I write when I'm bored. Most of the themes are sad, so I hope that, in a hundred years when I'm long dead, students read them as part of their Literature lessons. XD ⚠Major character death in some stories⚠
