"Come on, you can do it" Josie cheerfully shouted clapping her hands in a steady beat. She laughed and tried to keep up her encouragement. "Reel it in, Kayley. Use that Tribrid strength" she said.

Both kayley and I planted our feet firmly on the ground and step by step moved back but it just kept pulling us forwards. At one point the pull was so strong it almost made kayley fly into the lake if I didn't catch her in time.

But what did I expect when trying to teach a 4 year old how to fish and she suddenly is in a life or death brawl with such creature. But this was my reputation on the line too. I needed to help kayley win this fight. So I began to pull harder.

Fuck how strong is a stupid fish anyways.

After classes had ended for the day kayley reminded us about going to the lake and having a nice picnic. Josie and I were still on edge but thought it would be better to pretend like nothing happen. To continue to not let kayley see us worry, or make her feel scared in any way.

Freya and Rebekah left early morning making sure to enter my room unannounced to say their good byes to their new favorite nieces. They said they would be back by the end of the week when Ken is suppose to show back up again with the family.

And now here we are trying to win a game of tug of war with a stupid fish.

"It's Nessy" Kayley said. "It's the mockness monsters. I cans feels it" she tugged harder. "I gotchu now!!"

"Thats in Scotland, not virgina, love" Josie laughed, correcting the young child. Kayley turned to Josie before looking back at me. I only shrugged, I wasn't going to ruin her dreams. It's like me telling her Santa isn't real and he didn't beat up Krumpus and saved Christmas. I may be a Mikaelson but i'm not that cruel.

"Pull mommy, I'm doing more work" Kayley shouted really trying to tug at the fishing rod. She kept reeling it in and with each tug I thought the thin rod would break.

"I'm trying" I say pulling her tiny body away from the lake.

I could hear small growls coming from her, as she pulled harder on the line. I saw the fish's head pop out a few times but would always sink back into the water. I was getting ready to jump right in and grab that thing with my bare hands. How dare it make me weak in front of my girls.

I planted kayley back down onto the dock and held the rod tightly. Kayley looked at me before her eyes shifted back onto the water. We just needed one more tug. Just one more to get it out of the water and make it easier for us to grab. With one hand I held the rod, with the other I grabbed the net.

"On 3 we pull hard okay" I tell her. kayley only nods pulling all her focus on the fish. "1...2..--"

I don't even get to three when kayley pulled full force. I felt my arm swing back as the fish blasted out of the water. We looked up seeing the shadow of the fish slowly coming down. Kayley extended her arms ready to catch it, but instead it just end up hitting her in the face.

I am trying not to laugh.

Josie is trying not to laugh.

Andi... Andi just learned how to laugh. The fish still  flopping around beside her.

"Bab--"

"You think it's funny" Kayley said under her breath. Her head hanging between her shoulders and I feel so bad... I really want to laugh but I know I should make sure she's okay. But kayley beats me to it. She looks up, tears in her eyes but she isn't sobbing. "Let's put a fish on your face" she says before taking the small fish by the tail lifting it over her shoulder and is about to hit someone with it.
