Nathan wasn't sure why he was friends with Justin, of all people. He was annoying, oblivious, and downright idiotic sometimes.
Today was one of those days.
Justin had been at Millie's shop since Nathan got there for work, and had been bothering him constantly. Even worse? He'd started telling gay jokes.
"Hey, Nathan! What do you call a gay guy in a wheelchair?"
"I don't care."
"A fruit roll up!"
"Oh, ha ha, you're hilarious."
"Oh, hey, hey, what do you call a gay cowboy?"
Nathan sighed heavily, hanging his head for a minute before looking back up at Justin. "What?"
"A jolly rancher!" Justin started laughing uncontrollably at his own joke, then paused before laughing again. "Holy shit! Varian's a jolly rancher!"
"Jesus Hell." Nathan shook his head, trying to hide the small smile that was forming. Justin was being an idiot, but it was sort of amusing.
"Okay, okay, seriously, I'm done." Justin snorted, giggling a few times before calming down. Nathan gave him a skeptical look, to which Justin smirked back. "C'mon Nathan, you know you love me."
"I know no such thing."
"Asshole. You know what the world needs? A gay transformer."
"Oh yeah, sure. He can turn into a Prius."
Justin began laughing again, and Nathan was ashamed to admit that even he chuckled a little at that one, even though he was being completely serious. "You know Justin, for someone questioning their own sexuality, you've got a lot of gay jokes."
"Hey, I am fully aware that I may not be entirely straight." Justin responded seriously. Nathan raised an eyebrow.
"Uh-huh. Glad to know you've come to said revelation." Nathan said sarcastically. "How's it going with Evan?"
"I don't know. Good? I think? Maybe?"
"...You are useless." Nathan mumbled. Justin shrugged slightly, glaring as the door to the store opened.
And of course, it wasn't ironic at all that it was Evan walking in. If you could call it walking. Strolling was closer. Or sauntering. Whatever he was doing, Nathan decided it was entirely unnecessary to move your hips that much while walking.
Evan locked his gaze on Nathan and walked over slowly, crossing his arms over his chest and raising an eyebrow. "Care to tell me why you called him useless?"
Fucking vampire hearing.
Nathan rose an eyebrow back, glancing between Justin and Evan before looking at Justin, who was no help at all as he held his hands up and sucked his lips into his mouth, going silent.
Thanks a lot Justin.
Evan nodded. "Alright. I got it. No problem, don't tell me anything, that's perfectly fine with me." He stopped to glance around, uncrossing his arms. "Nice place. Dingy, but nice. When does Varian get here?"
"It varies." Nathan mumbled. Justin ducked his head, suddenly seeming to find his shoes highly interesting.
Nathan always felt weird talking to Evan. He didn't dislike him- he just made him feel awkward. Possibly because he was ridiculously flamboyant.
"You know, everybody knows about the guy, but nobody seems to know anything concerning him." Evan commented. "What's with that?"
Nathan shrugged in response. "Couldn't tell you." he honestly couldn't, though Evan made a good point.
