Nathan liked coffee. Coffee was great. It helped him through college, and it helped him stay awake when he was tired but still had shit to do.

All in all, coffee was a miracle worker. Which was why he was drinking it while sitting at the kitchen table yet again, in Evan's apartment. Because he hadn't gone home yet.

Of course, at the moment, it was less coffee and more sugar...but oh well.

“Terms would be good to go over.”

Evan had spoke just as Nathan was about to take a drink, and it made Nathan pause and look up in order to give a nod before he sipped at his coffee. Terms were a good idea, yes.

Personally, Nathan had none.

“Varian's not a top.” Evan said. “Unless things have changed. So I guess that means I'm going versatile.”

Without meaning to, Nathan choked on his coffee slightly at the mention of Varian topping. They hadn't touched that topic in a while, he realized as he hummed. “Ah, no, there's been no change there.”

Evan snorted. “Yet.”

“Anyway.” Nathan mumbled, trying to move the conversation along. He had a hard enough time discussing that with Varian, he wasn't about to talk about it with Evan too.

“Typically I make it a rule to not mess with mates. But mates wanting to mess with me is a little different.” Evan said. “Condoms are a must. And I need to know what you are and aren't okay with.”

Nathan paused, thinking that over. There really wasn't a lot that he wasn't okay with. He thought, at least. He frowned slightly. “I...don't really know. I mean, generally, I'll go with whatever. So,” he shrugged.

Evan watched him for a moment. “What can't I do with Varian? I'd like a heads-up before even touching him.”

Nathan nodded to that. “Right. Don't grab his wrists, first off. Don't pin him down if he doesn't initiate it. Don't go right for his pants, that's also a bad idea. And uh, avoid missionary.”

Evan sat still in thought for a moment before he nodded. “Been through a lot, hasn't he?” he asked quietly.

“He has, yeah. He's gotten better though, these past few years.”

“I'll be careful with him. No way in hell am I promising gentle, but I'll be careful.”

“Well careful and gentle are two different things, so. I'd definitely rather you be careful.” Nathan snorted, taking another drink of coffee. In all honesty, he really liked hearing that from Evan. Nathan himself had fucked up a few times, and if this was something Varian wanted to do, Nathan wanted to make sure it went as well as it possibly could.

So hearing Evan say that was heartwarming, in a way. Never thought he'd use that word to describe anything before. Oh well. First time for everything.

“There's such a thing as being too careful too. Eventually he has to tackle those particular no-nos, but I'll leave that to you two.” Evan replied. “It's the kind of thing best suited to mates. Something you should work on together. Since you've done so well with him already.”

Nathan hummed, nodding a little.

“We should start with you. A king of tag-team between Varian and I. See how comfortable you are with the two of us.” Evan suggested. “That way you have your mate close at hand. And you can get used to him and I interacting until we can break off on our own.”

Nathan nodded to show he was listening as he kept drinking his coffee.

“And I can also feel him out, though I don't think jealousy's going to be a problem from him. He's quite the voyeur.”
