October 31st was Halloween. And Varian was off...somewhere, still. Nathan wasn't sure where. All he knew was that wherever he was, the guitar was apparently important. Which left Nathan with Venerra in the house, who'd decided to play the Zelda game he hadn't touched in a ridiculously long time.

Nathan sat on the couch to watch her, figuring that he would be spending the night watching her play before they went to bed. Which was a boring way to spend Halloween. Seriously, what kid wants to spend Halloween inside?

Then again, they never did anything for Halloween. In fact, it's never even been mentioned. Which was a damn shame because everyone needs to experience Halloween at least once.

He could take Venerra out. But she didn't have a costume or anything. And Nathan didn't know if he could even find one this late. Well, he probably could. Or he could get some help.

Elle always loved Halloween when Nathan was younger. Her enthusiasm for the holiday was a little scary.

Mind made up, Nathan leaned forward in his spot a little. “Hey Venerra.”

Venerra paused her game and looked over her shoulder. “Yeah?”

“You wanna go out and do something?”

Venerra's whole expression lit up as a grin crossed her face, and Nathan couldn't help but smile back. “Yes.”

“I was thinking we could go trick-or-treating, since it's Halloween and all.”

“Really?”

“Really.” Nathan nodded. “Up for it?”

Venerra nodded hastily, then paused. “But, how can I? I don't have a costume.”

“Well, I figured we'd just see my mom about that. She can help us go find one.”

“Okay then.” Venerra replied, turning back to the game and saving it before shutting it off and getting up. “I'll go get my coat.”

“Alright.”

Venerra ran off to get her coat from her room, coming back quickly and pulling it on as she giggled happily and waited by the door. Nathan pulled his shoes on, standing up from the couch and heading for the door too. “Mom's gonna like this, I think. She's always been pretty big on Halloween.”

Venerra smiled again, jumping up and down a little in her excitement before she hugged Nathan tightly. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Nathan laughed a little, hugging her back. “You're welcome. Now come on, or else we won't have time to go.”

Venerra let go of Nathan abruptly at that, going for the door. “Kay.”
