The 24th. Nathan left for his Junior year of college tomorrow, and he wasn't looking forward to it. On the plus side, he got to see Vince, and Ace, and a few other people from his V.C. class, and got away from the twins for a while.

On the downside, he was leaving Varian for an extended amount of time. And from the looks of his schedule for the next two semesters, he wouldn't be down nearly as often this time. Sporadically, if he was lucky. In the event that he was unlucky, he'd only be down on holidays.

Nathan sighed quietly, leaning back against the couch. He'd sat there earlier, opting to sit in a normal position instead of something odd. Varian was sitting on the floor in front of him, leaning back into his legs. Varian was staying quiet, which wasn't anything new on the day before Nathan left. Glancing at the back of his boyfriend's head, Nathan leaned forward a bit, hooking a finger into Varian's hair tie and slowly pulling it out. Varian sat still, letting Nathan do what he wanted as he set the hair tie off to the side on the couch, slowly running his fingers through Varian's hair.

Varian leaned back a little more, exhaling contentedly as Nathan smiled slightly and just continued playing with his boyfriend's hair, occasionally scratching his scalp. Varian's eyes fluttered at the scratching, and his breathing slowed to a more relaxed pace as Nathan continued his ministrations.

Two semesters that Nathan would be in Grand Forks. Not that he didn't like college, but he'd rather be in Mandan. Varian was in Mandan. Nathan still maintained that he should've done college online.

He noticed that Varian was relaxing the longer he played with his hair, and his eyes had closed as he breathed slowly. Well, at least one of them was in a happy place, Nathan figured. Though tomorrow said happy place would probably be gone.

Just two more years, Nathan reminded himself. He could do two more years. It wasn't that long. Twenty-four months. Roughly 730 days. Twenty-four hours in a day...that was a lot of hours. Nathan winced slightly, deciding it was time to stop thinking about that. Glancing down, he noticed something a little odd.

Varian was asleep. During the time that Nathan had been thinking and playing with his hair, he'd fallen asleep. Well then.

Nathan slowly removed his fingers from Varian's hair, leaning back against the couch again. As soon as Nathan was in his previous position though, Varian opened his eyes, twisting a little to look back. Nathan raised his eyebrows. "What?" he asked.

"You don't usually mess with my hair."

Nathan thought that over for a second. "That is true."

"What were you thinking about?" Varian asked, turning around to face Nathan, who sighed quietly.

"College. Mostly."

Varian nodded a little. "Yeah. That's bugging me too."

Nathan hummed at that, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. "I still think I should've done college online."

"I'm beginning to question why I objected to that option."

"See? Not such a bad idea now, is it?" Nathan said with a small smile. Varian gave him a tolerating look.

"Seems pointless to back out now that you're in so far."

Nathan groaned, rolling his eyes.

"It's not that bad."

"The hell it isn't. And you know I'm not going to be down here every weekend like I was last year. It'll be like my freshman year all over again."

Varian sighed and hung his head. "Shit."
