Back to college. Nathan wasn’t sure whether to be happy about that fact or not. On the plus side, he had another one of Ace’s classes. On the downside, it was History of Vampire Culture. Oh boy.

He’d seen Vince briefly, but he didn’t stay in the dorm long, and Nathan didn’t have a chance to talk to him. It was odd, normally Vince would be all over him if he was gone for a few days. But this time, he practically ignored him. Nathan would get to the bottom of that soon enough though.

Now, he was walking down the hall to Ace’s class, a good thirty minutes early because he had nothing else to do. He wasn’t sure whether that thought was depressing or not.

On his way though, something caught his eye. At first he thought he was seeing Varian, which made him pause. It was definitely a man, but he was taller than Varian was, and darker. And a lot more muscular. Same hair color though. Dressed similar to Varian. Jeans, boots, plaid shirt. Who the hell was it? Couldn’t be a student.

Nathan couldn’t look away from the man, trying to figure out who he was.  The man glanced at him, but didn’t do anything else.

God damn it. He looked familiar, too, in a weird way… Oh.

Nathan realized where he’d seen the man. In a photo album. In Varian’s house. Holy shit.

Victor. He was looking at Victor.

There was no denying it, Nathan realized. He stopped walking completely and just stared, unable to help himself. He thought his mouth was also slightly open, but he didn’t care enough to close it.

Victor glanced at him again, but continued walking up the hall, opposite to the direction Nathan was going.

What was he doing here? Maybe Nathan was hallucinating. It took him a minute to collect himself and start walking again, slowly now as he passed Victor. Once he felt a safe distance away, Nathan turned, watching Victor as he continued walking.

What was going on?

A hard structure knocked against him, and Nathan stumbled back, glaring at what he’d walked into.

The wall. Of course.

“Son of a bitch,” he muttered, rubbing at his shoulder. He really needed to pay more attention to where he was going.

“Are you alright?”

Nathan jumped, turning to the source of the voice to find Victor looking at him. One way to draw the attention of your boyfriend’s father; walk into a wall. Nathan stared for a second, unable to think clearly until he nodded and held up his thumb. Then he ducked his head, turning and heading for Ace’s class quickly.

The accent though. Whoa. Victor had a very interesting accent.

Nathan managed to get into the room without more trouble, which was another large lecture hall, and slumped against the wall, rubbing a hand over his face. That was ridiculous.

He noticed Ace sitting at his desk in the front of the room, leafing through papers in a folder and scowling. Nathan pushed himself back up and walked over, and Ace looked up and smiled when he noticed him, closing the file.

“If you ever need to make a good impression on someone, run into a wall. It does wonders.” Nathan said.

“Crossed paths with Victor then?”

“Oh yeah.” Nathan snorted. “Why was he here?”

“To speak with me.”

Nathan nodded. “Will he be back at any point?”
