Nathan was excited to be heading to Ace’s class, mostly so he could start talking to everyone about the petition. No one would be able to sign it in the class, of course, but still. It was an interesting thought, and he was curious about what everyone would say.

He was going early again, which wasn’t a surprise. After class he’d be going out with Thomas, probably for a late dinner. Thomas said he wanted to hear about how break went.

Nathan noticed Victor walking toward him in the hall, coming from Ace’s room as usual. Victor didn’t say anything when he saw Nathan, except for a nod. As Nathan got closer, he slowed his pace until he was in front of Victor and stopped completely. Victor did the same, watching Nathan expectantly. “...Uh...hi.” Nathan said, mentally cursing himself for not coming up with something better. Come on. It’s your mate’s father, be more creative.

“Hello.”

“...How are you?”

Victor gave Nathan an amused smile. “You needn’t be so courteous. Outside of my office I am just a man.”

Nathan shrugged a little. “Sorry. Uh...right. So,” he paused, thinking for a second before tilting his head a little. “Do you still keep in contact with Todd?”

“Regularly.” Victor answered. “I assume he’s found it then.”

Nathan nodded, knowing Victor was referring to his journal. “Yeah. When we were looking for his birth certificate.”

“Good.”

“You wanted him to find it?”

Victor nodded, then looked around the hall. “Perhaps not a conversation to be had like this.”

Nathan paused again, glancing around before looking back at Victor. “Come along then.” Victor said, heading in the direction he’d been going in the first place. Nathan hesitated before he followed, and Victor lead him into a little secluded area that had a few tables and chairs. Victor sat down at one, and Nathan did the same before he spoke again. He opened his mouth, then paused and frowned a little, looking at Victor.

“What about Vesper? What does she do?”

“She raises her children.” Victor said. “She’s not involved with the Board any longer.”

Nathan nodded, then paused and glanced down. “You uh...probably can’t tell me too much about Venerra, can you?”

“No.”

Nathan nodded again. “I thought not. Worth a try though.”

“No harm will come to her.” Victor said gently. “She charms the staff.”

Nathan smiled slightly. “Yeah, well, it’s not like anyone can not like her,” he commented. “That’s good though. I just...want to know that she’s okay.”
