Ace's “field-day” was looking more like a chaotic mess, once everyone got to using their elements and messing around with each other. Vince and Chelsea were going at it, since they were both fire, though Jamie was in close range in case one of them actually set the other on fire as she settled in the grass, building various shapes with the dirt.
Of course, since the class was mostly fire users, there was a lot of that going on. Nathan couldn't tell was Bre was doing, as she was across the park from him, so that irritated him a little. He was curious about how ground water worked. Sure, Varian had told him how to do it, but after finding out that it wasn't Nathan's element, they left it alone.
Elise, the only human, sat off to the side with her bag, seeming perfectly content to slowly eat the snacks she'd brought as she watched everyone. Nathan would say that he was curious what it was like to be human, but considering he was raised as one for nineteen years, he wasn't too bothered by it.
Nathan stood off to the side as well, watching Vince and Chelsea as she threw various things on fire at him- grass, sticks, mulch, whatever she happened to grab. He was pretty sure Chelsea threw a pencil at some point, though the fire usually went out before it even reached Vince. On occasion she would also set the grass under Vince's feet on fire. He wasn't getting any closer though, just in case he happened to get caught in the crossfire.
"Aw, come on, is that all you got? You're Changed, you're supposed to be good at this! I feel like I'm fucking with a five year old!" Vince said loudly, smiling as Chelsea glared. If it wasn't for the fact that Vince could move pretty quickly, he'd of probably been on fire multiple times over. Chelsea had really good aim. And of course, because she's Changed, she has ridiculous reflexes.
Nathan had to admit- it was pretty interesting to watch. Glancing over, he noted that Ace was still sitting by the boombox, watching people attentively with an amused expression. Nathan looked back to Chelsea and Vince though when Vince yelled out.
"Jesus woman, are you trying to kill me?" he said, glaring. Chelsea only had a vaguely smug expression, to which Jamie shook her head before going back to her own work.
Looking around, Nathan noticed that Josh and Zach were also working together as they talked about something, and Nathan was much more interested in what they were doing. Zach was a fire user, and would set something on fire every now and then. Josh, however, was a wind user, and from the looks of it, he could take the fire off whatever Zach put it on and make it travel through the air. The whole process lasted for maybe ten seconds each time, but it was still pretty cool to watch.
Ace got up too, walking around and inspecting what was going on. Whenever something got close to him, he moved out of the way rather quickly. Nathan was rather surprised at how fast he moved.
After a little while of messing around, Ace yelled at everyone to cool it down and to sit where they were, because he had instructions for them. Everyone took a second to calm down before walking over, sitting on the ground roughly where they were earlier. Ace looked at everyone, seeming pretty pleased. "A lot of you are really advanced for your age, congratulations, and everyone that was able to participate, thank you," he said. "Elise, I hope you learned a lot today, thank you for coming."
Elise gave a small smile in response.
"Now, for the rest of the semester, every other week will be spent here in University Park during class time for you guys to work with your elements. Feel free to bring spectators, but let me know in advance so I can make proper arrangements if necessary," Ace announced to the class. "Should you wish to speak with me about anything we've covered, or you just have questions on something, you will be able to find me here, in this exact spot every weekday minus Monday from 3:00pm to 7:40pm. Any questions?"
