--------------- Percy's POV: ----------------

Thank Hestia we were finally done.

I pulled my knife out of the man's chest, removing my foot from his gut as I looked up, watching just as Damien threw one of his mother's throwing stars into a man's chest, his scream getting cut short as he fell back.

Damien looked back at me, his face turning into a smile. I smiled back, giving him a thumbs up.

"Good job Dami, now let's get out of here before the cops arrived." Damien nodded, jogging over to me. When he got beside me, I ruffled his hair, his smile growing just a bit more. I'd figured out that Damien liked it when people ruffled his hair, it was a sweet fact I'd come across by accident but now whenever we finished a mission I'd ruffle his hair as a sort of 'reward' if you could call it that.

I removed my hand from his hair before turning towards the roof, Damien pulled out a grappling gun and propelled himself up. I did one more look over of the massive building, making sure we had everything we needed. When I was appeased with my scan I grabbed a water bottle from the ground, opening it up as I used the water to make steps before I ran up to the spot where Damien was.

He'd only seen me use my powers a few times, and for the first couple of times he'd tried to get answers on how I could do it but I'd told him I couldn't say, he gave up soon after that. I met him up on the roof, the distant sound of sirens already ringing true.

"Let's hurry," I said, Damien nodded and we were off.

We jumped down off the roof and onto the building beside it before heading off into a full sprint.

We were nearing the base when I felt something off in the air.

"Damien stop!" I called out, he skid to a stop, turning back to me with a confused look. I looked around, feeling my breathing quicken as I tried to check the buildings around me for anything that could be setting off my alarms.

Nothing. I tried to strengthen my senses on the water particles around me but before I could register what it was a gust of wind followed by me getting grabbed from underneath the arms and into lifted into the air interrupted me. I barely managed to catch a yell from Damien below.

"RUN DAMIEN!" I yelled, looking up to my captor. I spotted a man with a red suit, a large and glowing lightning bolt on his chest.

He was looking down at me with a smile. "Now call me a bit quick to jump the gun, but I don't think anyone who was unsuspicious would be running on the roof of a building with a blood-covered mask," I grunted as I looked down, finding us high above the city.

"Put me down!" I yelled, trying my best to think of a way out of this. I could see that we were nearing a large river of ahead, the one that led out of Gotham.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but I have to take you to the Justice League now!" I felt my curiosity peak at the way he said ma'am in such a juvenile manner. I didn't have time to focus on this though as I needed to think of a way to get myself free in time to jump into the water.

"Why would you do that though? You have no proof that I did anything! Aren't you worried you're just going to waste their time?" I asked, he looked down at me with a smirk, but I could see the slight unease burry into his brain.

"Haven't you heard the saying it's better safe than sorry?" he asked, laughing off his newfound worry.

"Well it's your chance, not mine," I said, feeling his grip loosen slightly.

He didn't reply instead keeping going. We were nearing the water now. I took in a deep breath as I prepared for what I was about to do.

"Sorry!" I yelled, he looked down to me with confusion but before he could say anything I curled my body inwards, bringing my knees to my chest before using my new position to kick him square in the jaw. His hands let me go as I began to plummet toward the water below me. I smiled at the success of my plan but I felt that smile waver as the man also began falling with me. Maybe I'd kicked a bit too hard.
