——————Bruce's POV: ———————

I happily waved as the older gentleman wandered off, his smile was good but his intentions not so much. I let out a sigh of relief once he turned his back to me. It seemed that no one had noticed I wasn't busy yet so I took this chance to do a quick role call.

Off to the side where he usually sat was Jason with his date, Artemis, a brash girl but I allowed her to come was because she kept Jason here with little to no complaint. Check. I turned some more to find another red head, this one laughing with Dick as the two talked by the snack table. Check. I looked to the door to see Tim was standing beside a blonde guy, the two of them talking in between welcoming guests. I didn't recognize him so he must be new. Check. I took one more look around and felt my heart dip as I realized Damian had yet to show. Immediately I felt my fake smile dip as I pinched the bridge of my nose. I shouldn't have trusted that he'd make it here, now he could be out there unleashing his wrath onto some poor troublemakers. Should I leave? Can I leave is a better question honestly.

My hand quickly found it's way to my phone in my pocket, as I quickly pulled up Damian's contact and began calling him. I looked down to the ground as the ringing stopped.

"Damian where are you?" I asked quickly, a bit of edge to my tone.

"I'm on the way Father." In a much quieter and muffled voice as if he'd put his hand to the end of the phone he said, "turn here" I felt my brows furrow as he unmuffled himself.

"I will repeat myself. Where are you?" He groaned and his voice became much louder.

"I'm a block away alright, I stopped for something to eat." He grumbled.

A bit of relief washed over me. "Alright, but we have food here, so hurry up."

"Yeah yeah, I know."

"Good, I'll see you soon."

"See you Father." He hung up. I lowered my phone slowly as I took in a deep breath and put my smile back on.

"Well Mr. Wayne! Lovely to finally see you!" I perfected my smile as I outstretched my hand, preparing for another long speech filled with dull and tired jokes.

------------Damian's POV: ------------

"Damn it!" I yelled, squeezing my grip on the phone so tight my knuckles turned white.

"Everything okay?" I turned to see Percy beside me, her face worried even though she was in danger of tripping with her heels and longer dress. I nodded, pursing my lips as I shoved my phone into my pocket.

"Fine, Father's just being a nuisance." I could see her smile grow from beside me before she turned back to where we were going. We were in a long stretch of block, though we neared the building by the second, I hadn't realized how much I'd missed running full speed with Percy, the others couldn't quite keep up, except for Grayson but he talked too much.

We pushed past a woman and man in a dress and suit, the two almost yelling at us before recognizing me. Their complaints died quickly on their tounges. I smirked internally as we reached the front doors. The security guard looked at Percy first, his eyes narrowing as he watched her.

"Ma-"

"Let us in." I said, his eyes flicking to me with irritancy before they widened with realization, his hands quickly stumbling for the door.
