Seventeen

September 19

"This room is pretty" Iris comments as she enters Billie and I's hotel room. Billie walks in behind her and doesn't meet my eyes. I sigh and close the door, locking it.

"You flew her out here?" I ask Billie as I grab her arm, pulling her away form the others. She nods and scratches the back of her arm.

"I know how much you miss Iris so I thought I could see if I could get her to spend a few days away with us."

I shake my head and look away from her. "Billie why would you do this" I ask her making her look at me confused.

"I just told yo—"

"You're lying! Billie stop playing me like I'm stupid! Why would you fly her out here? What the fuck do you want from me honestly?"

"Billie and I share it and Finneas is across the hall." I tell Iris as I sit down on the bed with Iris sitting beside me. Billie stands awkwardly near the door and looks away from us.

"This is nice but quick question" She looks at Billie. "When is your next concert!? I can't wait to see you in action..again" She says excitedly making me smile and move back on the bed until my back touches the headboard.

"Tomorrow night actually" Iris then turns to me excited. "I can't wait!"

I can.

Billie turns to me with tears in her eyes. "What I want from you? I don't fucking know Halley! You think I wanted any of this to happen? Huh?"

I only just stare at her.

"I kissed you without even thinking about it. I don't know why I kissed you or why I even wanted to in the first place. I never did this before okay? All my life I have only been with men so this is literally a new thing for me and you want to stand here and demand me to tell you what to do or what I want like I even fucking know"

"Bil—"

"No" She screams, the tears now falling down her cheek like rapid fire. "I'm sorry I kissed you Halley. I wouldn't have done it if—" She stops.

"If what Billie!?" I ask her.

She shakes her head and turns away from. I grab her arm to stop her but she only snatching it away my grasp. "If I knew you would hate me" She finally says before walking away from me without another word.

I lay in the bed with Iris, laughing at the movie we were watching. It's called Hangover 2. Iris suggested it and I'm glad she did. We already watched the first one and almost halfway through the second. I don't know if we will end up watching the third but I'm excited either way.

She laughs as she opens the skittles bag. Her eyes not leaving the tv. Currently, our legs are deep enough the covers and our backs were up against the bed's headboard.

"When's Billie coming back?" Iris asks me, her eyes still not leaving the screen.

"Uh" I lean over to the nightstand and check the time on my phone. "She should be here soon actually." I then shrug my shoulders and put my phone down.

Iris looks at me finally. "What's going on with you two?"

"What do you mean?"

She rolls her eyes and sits up some in the bed before turning the movie off. "I'm not stupid Halley. Y'all barely say two words to each other. Your mood immediately changes anytime I bring Billie up. You seemed angry to find out Billie was the one who brought me out here so what is it Halley?"

"Nothing"

She frowns at me and gets up. "I'm not doing this shit with you again Halley. You always shut down every time you're mad at someone or if something happens. I'm not about to beg you to tell me what's wrong."

Oh my god

I groan and look up at the ceiling. "Billie and I kissed" I say just as she opens the door. She quickly slams the door closed and turns to me in surprise.

"BILLIE AND YOU WHAT!" She yells making me immediately shush her. "I'm sorry" she walks over to the bed and asks me again, in a much softer and quieter tone.

"We kissed okay and before you ask no we didn't fuck"

Iris stares at me for a moment before shaking her head almost in disbelief. "Oh my god Halley what the fuck!? Did you like it?"

I look away from her and smile while shaking my head no. "Don't lie! You totally did" she says laughing as she pushes my shoulder.

"Okay I did but clearly she didn't like it"

"Why you say that?"

I play with my hands and shrug my shoulders. "Things have been weird between us and her mom ended up knocking on the door when we was making out. She literally pushed me off the bed and rushed to answer the door."

"She was trying to hide what happened?"

"I don't know what she was trying to do but that shit hurt. I get that she has never been with a girl or been in this kind of situation but she didn't have to act like it never happened as soon as someone else was involved."

Iris sighs and sits down next to me. "I mean if it was me, that would be my response too."

The fuck?

"Wha—" She cuts me off, shushing me. "If I never done something with a girl even if it's just kissing and someone knocked on the door, I would immediately freak out. It's like you get lost in the moment and then someone knocking brings you back to earth you know?"

"I mean yeah but she didn't have to tell Maggie I wasn't even there."

"Maybe not but that was her response and she can't take it back Halley. Not everyone is like you or thinks like you so yes Billie hurt you but come on Hals you know deep down that wasn't her intentions" 

I look down at my hands with a sigh. "I've been really rude to her Iris since then"

"Well maybe it's time for you and Billie to sit down and talk everything out." She suggests sending me a small comforting smile.

"Yeah maybe"

She grabs my hand and pulls me to my feet. "You are going to find Billie and talk all this shit out. I forbid you from coming back until you do"

I look at her like she is crazy and laugh. "You know this is my room right?"

"Ask me if I give a damn"
