THIRD PERSON
December 30
San Diego, CaliforniaThey say that everything happens for a reason but what could possibly be the reason for this?
While Halley went to go say bye to Iris and walk her out, Billie finished up the vegan stir fry she prepared and turned off the stove. She walked over to the cabinets to grab plates when Billie felt a slight pain in her chest.
It was a pain like no other. It was almost faint like it wasn't suppose to hurt but at the same time the pain tortured Billie causing her gasp sharply as she held her hand to her chest.
Sensing something was wrong, Billie rushed to the door and made her way outside where the scene in front of her caused her stop abruptly.
Iris was seated on her knees, crying loudly as she screamed for the surrounding crowd to call 911 and to help her.
Beside her laid the one person Billie loves more than anything.
Halley
Panic surged within her and without hesitation, Billie raced over to them, pushing through the crowd. Her heart pounding in her chest as her eyes met Iris's who were filled with sadness and pain.
Billie's eyes then turned to look at her girlfriend who laid on the ground, not moving. "No no no Halley!" Billie dropped to her knees beside her and quickly grabbed Halley's head, pulling her into her arms. "Halley wake up!"
Every passing second felt like an eternity as Billie screamed for Halley to wake up. She screamed to see Halley's brown eyes once more. The sheer helplessness she felt was suffocating, choking her with despair.
"Halley!"
—
They say that silence can be the loudest thing in a room. Are they right? Billie believes so.
With tear stained cheeks, Billie sat in the dark grey chair. Her eyes staring off into the distance with thoughts racing through her mind. She could taste the saltiness of her own sorrow as she pleaded for a miracle for Halley.
"Where is she!? Where is Billi—Billie!" Zoe and Drew raced over to their best friend, quick to bring her into a tight hug. Billie didn't hug them back only continued to stare off into the distance. To other it looked like she was simply just staring at the wall but for Zoe and Drew, they knew her mind was somewhere else.
Two hours Billie has been waiting. Two hours and twenty four minutes.
Everyone who needed to be called has been called and joined Billie in the waiting room where they all sat, waiting for news that Halley would be okay.
Maggie was seated next to her daughter with her hand placed on Billie's shoulder. She knew her daughter wasn't listening to her but Maggie still told her stories in attempt to get her mind off of things.
It didn't work.
Nothing worked and nothing would work except seeing Halley's beautiful smile once more. That what Billie wanted, to see Halley smile at her with that dashing smile of hers and for her eyes to light up with love as she looks at Billie, who could only look at her in the same manner.
"Family of Halley Comet"
Racing to her feet, Billie rushed to the doctor, silencing pleading for him to give her good news. Maggie and Finneas stood behind Billie while Iris stood off to the side not sure if she even wanted to hear what he had to say, in fear of the possibility of Halley not being okay.
"Please tell me she's alright" were Billie's first words since she arrived at the hospital. That's all she wants is for Halley to be okay. Please be okay.
As Billie listened to the doctor speak, her heart stopped and her hopeful plead turned into a sea of pure happiness. "—Halley should wake up within the next day or so. Her body needs rest. We would like to keep her for a few days after she wakes just as a precaution and for observation." The doctor finishes and Billie's face irrupts into a bright smile. Maggie and Finneas cheer behind her but all Billie could do was turn to look at Iris before hurrying toward her.
Gathering her friend into a hug, the two of them both break down in tears. Although they were not tears of sadness but rather tears of happiness. Iris sinks to her knees but Billie doesn't let go of her as she joins her on the floor.
"She's going to be okay" is what Iris says making Billie laugh with a smile. "She's going to be okay" Billie repeats and pulls away from the hug to look at Iris's tear filled eyes to which Billie had tears to match.
Billie's eyes then turned to the doctor who stood in the same spot, watching the two of them. "Can we go see her?" She asked the man who nodded his head.
The two of them instantly stood to their feet and followed the man down the hallway. "Only two at a time for now. She's still asleep so I would advise you both to be very quiet when entering the room." He said and Billie nodded her head. He continued to walk down the hallway before turning the corner and stopping at a room.
Billie and Iris looked at each other before Iris spoke. "Why don't you go in first" She suggests making Billie quickly frown.
"Are you sure?"
Iris nods her head. "I'll wait out here" She tells her and sends Billie a small smile. Nodding her head, Billie slowly opens the door and steps inside.
Laying in a hospital bed with a cast around her leg and a few bruises on her face, Halley still looked beautiful to Billie. She could only smile as she silently cried, walking over to her girlfriend's sleeping form.
"I'm so happy you're okay" Billie whispered to Halley, being mindful that she was asleep. "I can't lose you Halley Serafina Comet" She mumbles and leans down to place a soft kiss on her forehead.
"You're going to be okay" She tells Halley and grabs her hand, kissing the back of it. Billie sat down in the chair beside the bed and stared at Halley with love in her eyes.
It didn't matter that Halley couldn't hear anything she was saying right now. It also didn't matter that she was asleep. She was just happy to know and see that her Halley is going be okay.
