Alex POV - next day
"She looks like she's ready to destroy Stanford." Serv says.
"She does, she looks determined. She probably doesn't want to disappoint us."
"I hope she knows that if they lose that we won't be disappointed." He says.
I bob my head, "It's hard for her. She always wants to win, feels like a failure if she doesn't."
I watch as Soph walks up to her and talks to her, then Sawyer looks at us, nodding.
"I'm glad Soph is here, she kinda knows her and can help her out." He says.
I nod, "Me too."
I watch as Sawyer gets a through ball and puts a ball under the keeper.
I smile when I see her put her arms out and her teammates crash into her.
"Good job, baby!!!" I yell.
I sit back down and look at Serv, "Keeping the tradition alive with that number."
I smile, "I told her that she doesn't have to be 13, but she insists."
He smiles, "Total momma's girl."
"Momma! Sawyer sent the heart. Noah! Look, we have to send it back!"
I watch as Charlie grabs Noah's hand and holds it up next to hers and look out at Sawyer who smiles and gets set.
I keep watching as Sawyer gets fouled over and over.
"This ref needs to get in control of this game before someone gets-"
I stop talking when I watch a midfielder slide tackle Sawyer, but miss the ball and her cleat takes Sawyer's knee.
Sawyer goes down and is screaming in pain.
"Fuck. Holy - babe, watch these two." I say and stand up.
"Sawyer!!" Makena yells.
"Hey - come with me." I say to her.
We walk down and I can hear Sawyer yelling.
Soph runs over and gives me a thumbs up and kneels next to Sawyer.
I watch as they bring a stretcher out and place her on it, heading towards an ambulance.
A trainer sees me and rushes over, "Hey, it's bad. Going to the hospital and she's already panicking so if you could come, that would be helpful to calm her down I think."
I nod and turn to Makena, "Go tell Serv. You guys meet us at the hospital."
She nods and wipes her face, turning and running back up the bleachers.
I climb over the fence and follow the trainer and immediately hear Sawyer.
"No! Get away from me! I don't know you!"
I hop in the back of the ambulance and avoid looking at her leg and instead grab her hand.
"Hi baby, I know that you're in pain, you have to let the EMTs help you out."
"Momma! My-my leg! It's so fucked!" She cries.
I lean down and kiss her forehead, "Just relax, we don't know anything yet."
She just cries harder and I pull her hand and place it over my heart, "Baby, just deep breaths, okay? Just like me. You're going to have to get an IV, and I know you don't like those, but it's the only way to get you some pain medication."
"Hi, does she have any allergies?" An EMT looks at me.
I shake my head, "No. but she's on medication for ADHD and anxiety. Strattera, Concerta, and Zoloft."
