Sawyer POV - one week later

I open the door, "YOUR FAVORITE TEENAGER HAS RETURNED!"

I hear feet and see Charlie appear, "Sawyer's home!"

She runs to me and I pick her up, "My favorite sister."

She chuckles and kisses my cheek, "I missed you."

"I missed you too, Char."

"Sawyer!!" I look and see Noah.

"Hiya, buddy!" I scoop him up too.

I tickle him when I hear a commotion, "Leave me alone!"

I watch as Quinn runs up the stairs and a door slams.

Momma walks out of the kitchen and sees me, "Hi, my baby." She kisses my head.

"Hi, momma. What was that?"

She sighs, "Nothing, baby. Ugh, I'm so happy that you're home."

She pulls me in and squeezes me tight.

I let out a breath.

"You okay, baby?"

I nod and pull away, "Yeah. Makena is going to come over in a little bit."

She nods and smiles, "Great."

I point up, "Can I help with Quinn?"

She sighs, "I think that's a great idea."

I nod, "Okay. Come on Mav."

We head upstairs and I walk to the guest room, knocking on the door.

"I said to leave me alone!" I hear.

I clear my throat, "Uh. Um, hey, Quinn. Can we talk?"

Silence.

"I don't even have to come in the room." I say.

Silence.

I look at Mav and then back at the door.

I sit down and lean against the door, Mav crawling into my lap.

"I know that you're scared, and it's okay to feel that way. I was just like you when I first came here. Scared and angry, still mad that I was even in the situation that I was."

I let out a breath, "My momma and pops? They're the best people, they want to help and they'll do anything to help."

I sigh, "So just give them a chance. They're not perfect. They still make me mad sometimes, but I wouldn't even be where I am without them. I know that you and I are different, but I can help. You can talk to me."

Silence.

I lean my ear against the door and hear sniffling.

I sigh.

"I'll leave you alone, but I think that you know where my room is. If you want to talk."

I stand up and turn, seeing momma at the top of the stairs.

I freeze, "Uh, you heard that?"

She smiles and nods, "I'm so proud of you, baby."

I bob my head, "Everything that I said is true."

She softens, "I know it is. The sky is the limit for you, baby. How's your leg?"

I look down at it, "It's just not working the way that it used to. It feels different."

She nods, "Still getting back to where you were, you'll get into a groove, baby."

I shake my head, "I didn't get called back into camp yet."
