Alex POV - six months later (June 2030)

"Can you believe it?" I look over at Serv.

I grab his hand and shake my head, "Sawyer is getting married and I feel old."

He chuckles, "You're not old. You're limber."

I chuckle, "Oh my god, you're ridiculous."

He presses a kiss to my hand, "I cannot believe that today is the day."

"Do we think she's calm or-"

The door busts open, "Momma! I'm freaking out!"

I smile, "Nope."

I stand up and walk to the door, "Why are you freaking out?"

She runs her hand through her hair, "Just- how can Makena want to spend her life with me? I'm a mess and I have a billion things going on and I make so many mistakes and I can't even-"

"Whoa. Purple elephants." I say.

She looks at me, "I'm just freaking out."

I watch as tears build in her eyes and she sniffles.

I pull her into a hug, "Today is an overwhelming day and that's okay."

She nods, "I'm so overwhelmed."

I squeeze her and push her back, "Where's Mav?"

"Papa took him to get a bath." She sighs out.

I nod, "Nice and clean for his big day."

She smiles and wipes her face, "Yeah."

"What do you need right now?" I ask.

She fidgets and looks up, "Go for a run?"

I chuckle, "Okay. Me and pops?"

She nods, "Yeah."

"Okay. I'll go tell him." I walk away.

I walk out onto the balcony, "Sawyer would like us to go for a run."

He looks up from his phone, "A run?"

"You heard me correctly. She's anxious and overwhelmed." I say.

He nods once and stands up, "Okay, a run. Anxious like before the finals her senior year?"

I smile and think back, "Oh, yes."

Flashback July 2025

I walk downstairs and yawn when I see the TV on.

I walk further into the living room and see Sawyer on her balance board, watching TV.

"Sawyer? Why are you up?" I ask, tiredly.

"I'm not tired, momma."

I watch as she zooms back and forth and grab the remote, turning the TV off.

She stops, "What the hell?"

"It's 2AM, you need to get up to bed."

She shakes her head, "I can't! I tried to sleep and I can't!"

I sigh, "You're anxious about the game and that's okay, but you need to rest. I can sleep with you if that helps."

She groans, "I'm telling you that I can't sleep!"

I take a breath.

"You're not listening to me." She groans.

I walk towards her, "Sawyer, I am listening. You can't sleep. But TV is not going to help. Upstairs in your bed, with some extra compression and your sound machine will help. Can even do the stories on the calm app."
