Sawyer POV - five months later
Makena chuckles and moves to straddle me, "You're a ball of energy this morning."
I smile, "I'm excited for the final, we're going to win, I just know it!"
She leans down and presses a kiss to my lips, "I believe you, my super star."
She pulls away and I whine.
"Have to save your energy, babe." She says.
I smile and Mav jumps on the bed, "Hi, buddy! Sorry that you got the boot last night, you don't need to witness that."
Makena laughs, "He doesn't know what we're doing."
I smile and rub his head, "And thank goodness for that."
He barks and I laugh, "Okay, I know that you're hungry."
I get and stretch then walk to the kitchen to fill his bowl up.
My phone starts buzzing and I pull it out, answering.
Quickly, Charlie appears, "Sawyer!"
I smile, "Hey Char, what's up?"
"Are you excited for your game?"
I nod, "Yeah, but I'm nervous too."
"Don't be nervous, Sawyer." She responds.
"I'll try not to be. Where is everyone?"
"They're outside, eating."
I bob my head up and down, "Nice."
She scrunches her face.
"What're you thinking about?"
"I have a question."
"Shoot."
"Can you come to my school for career day?" She asks.
I pause and think about it.
"Sawyer?"
I shake my head, "Um, yeah Char, I can come."
She squeals, "Yes! I knew you'd say yes! It's going to be so cool, I'm going to make a poster of you and us!"
I smile, "Cool."
I grab my meds and go to empty them in my mouth, but hear a familiar voice on the phone and set them back down.
"Charlie?" I hear momma.
"Yeah, momma, I'm on the phone with Sawyer!"
I smile and watch as momma comes into the frame, "Well, good morning my oldest baby."
"Good morning!" I grin.
"Momma, Sawyer said that she will come to career day!" Charlie says.
"Really? That's great, baby!" She says looking at me.
I nod and bite my lip.
"I'm going to go tell daddy!" She takes off and momma turns back to me.
"How're you feeling, baby?" She asks.
I sigh, "Nervous."
She sighs, "Just focus on your play, play your best, that's all that you can do, baby."
"But what if we lose?" I ask.
She smiles, "Losing is a part of it, baby. I learned my best lessons when I lost."
I bob my head.
"And Sawyer? Your family will be proud of you, no matter what." She says.
"Promise?"
