Flashback - January 2024
Sawyer POV
"So, did you write down some names?" Makena asks me.
I nod, "Yeah, some."
She pulls me to a stop, "What's going through your head?"
I sigh, "I'm excited about a little brother, like I love Charlie."
"But..." She draws out.
I stare at her, "But I'm being selfish. I like having momma and pops' attention. Like I share with Charlie, but for the most part, if I need one of them, they're available. But even this week, I haven't had a lot of time with either of them."
She kisses me and pulls back, "It's okay to be worried and frustrated, but they'll always have time for you."
I stare at her and she smiles.
"Plus, you're doing so well in school and stuff, they probably feel that you don't really need all of the attention."
That statement piques my interest.
"Babe?" Makena calls and I shake my head.
"Huh?"
She laughs, "I think it's cute when you zone out."
I kiss her cheek, "She thinks I'm cute."
She presses her lips against mine and pulls back, "I do."
"Okay, we're here!" She says and I look at the OT clinic.
"Thanks for walking with me." I say.
She smiles, "Anytime. I'll see you later, I love you."
"You going back to the beach?" I ask.
She nods.
"Okay, I love you." I sigh.
She leans in and I connect our lips, quickly getting lost in it.
"SAWYER!" I hear.
I pull away and see Bree and Hannah waiting for me.
"Bye, babe."
"Bye." I say and turn to head their direction.
"Hey, you were supposed to come right in, you know that." Bree says.
I shrug and walk past her and wait at the next door.
Hannah opens the door and I walk in, quickly making my way to the trampoline.
"Sawyer, come on, let's do some other stuff before jumping." Hannah says.
I shake my head and keep jumping.
Bree gets on the trampoline and stands in the middle.
I stop jumping because it's not as bouncy, "Get off."
She stares at me. "Get off, please!"
She shakes her head, "What's up with you?"
I groan, "Nothing! I want to jump."
I walk towards her, fully intent on pushing her off.
"Whoa, Sawyer!" She says and I stop.
"Then get off!" I yell.
"Not how this works." She says.
I clench my fists, "Get off of the trampoline or I'm going to do something about it!"
