Sawyer POV - one week later

I hear a groan and open my eyes.

I look over and see Momma and sigh.

"Momma?" I whisper.

"Hm? What's up, baby?" She asks.

I sigh, "Are you okay? Do I need to go get pops?"

She sighs and nods.

"Okay." I quickly get up and rush downstairs.

"Pops! Momma needs you!" I say quickly.

"Okay, I'm coming, baby." He says and stands up, pressing a kiss to my head as he quickly jogs up the stairs.

My phone buzzes and I see Makena calling.

"Hi babe." I yawn.

"Hey, did you just get up?"

"No, just been snoozing with momma. She's tired."

She sighs, "She's been through a lot. Are you sleeping? Eating? I can bring you some food."

I rub my forehead, "I'm just anxious. My body is probably not happy with me right now."

"Let me bring you lunch, yeah? Your favorite?" She asks.

I smile, "Yeah. Thanks babe."

"Just want to make sure that you're okay. How's your momma feeling?" She asks.

I sigh, "She's sleeping a lot. She's in pain, even though I think she's hiding it from me, Quinn, Charlie, and Noah."

I hear her sigh, "She wants to be strong for you guys."

I nod, "I know."

"Well, if she needs anything, I can help too. I'll be over in a bit with your lunch."

I smile and feel warm all over, "Thanks babe, I love you."

"I love you more!" She says and hangs up.

I smile and look up when I hear feet on the steps.

Pops gives me a smile, "She would like her cuddle buddy back."

I smile and head upstairs, walking into their room.

I crawl into bed and get as close as I can, "Momma?"

"Yeah, baby?"

"You don't have to hide that you're in pain from me." I sigh.

She looks at me, "Parents don't want to look weak in front of their kids, baby. That's just the way it is."

I nod, "I don't think you're weak, momma."

She gives me a tight lipped smile, "Thanks, baby."

I bob my head up and down, "Makena is bringing me lunch. She asked if you needed anything."

She smiles, "She's so sweet."

I nod, "I'm going to ask her to marry me."

Her eyes widen, "Really?"

I nod, "I just know that she's the one."

She nods, "She loves you for you."

"Yeah. So I need your help with finding a ring." I say and stare at her.

"That, I can help with."

"Cool."

She chuckles and groans, "Come here, baby."

I scoot and gently lean my head on her shoulder, "Love you, momma."

"Love you too, my baby." She whispers.
