Sawyer POV - one month later

I sit in the living room, but quickly get up to start pacing.

Maverick follows me closely, but I just keep walking back and forth until my phone buzzes.

I stop and pull it out.

Pops: she's out of surgery. She should be up in an hour.

I let out a breath and walk to the chair, sitting down.

"Hey, kid."

My head pops up and I see auntie Chris.

"Hi."

"Did you get any sleep?" She asks.

I sigh and shake my head, "I was too anxious."

She nods, "What's the word?"

"She's okay. She's out of surgery." I say quickly.

She wraps her arm around me, "Good. That's really good."

I look up at her, "I just want to talk to her. I need to talk to her."

She squeezes my shoulder, "You will, at some point today. Is she still asleep?"

I nod, "Pops said she should wake up in an hour."

"Okay. So let's go upstairs and you can nap for an hour."

I bite my lip.

"Nothing is going to happen. You can nap, I'll wake you in an hour." She says.

I nod, "Okay."

I stand up and pull my phone out.

Me: momma is okay. I'm going to nap, talk in an hour. I love you.

It quickly buzzes.

Makena 🥰: great. Get some sleep, you were up a lot last night. I love you and I'll see you tomorrow.

Christen wraps her arm around my shoulder and leads me to the guest room, but I pause.

"Um." I start.

"You want to hop in bed with Tobs and I? We're just watching some sports center."

I let out a breath and nod, "Thanks."

I walk into their room and Tobs' head pops up, "Come here, kid."

I crawl into their bed and Maverick jumps up with me.

"Night Sawyer."

I close my eyes and hum.

'Momma is okay.'

Alex POV

"Oh my god, everything hurts." I groan.

I feel a kiss on my forehead and open my eyes to see Serv.

"Hey. You did great." He whispers.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath.

"Did you let our kids know?" I ask.

"Yep and actually if you turn the other way, you'll see one of them."

I turn my head to the other side and see Quinn sleeping on the makeshift couch.

I smile and turn back, "She is very persistent per your mom."

I smile, "Her and Sawyer."

"The difference is she is persistent and somewhat calm. Sawyer, is not."

My eyes widen.

He reaches for his phone and pulls up a text.

Christen Press: She said that she didn't sleep. She's napping now, but I told her I'd get her up in an hour to talk to Alex. What do you think? She has the game in like 6 hours. Ball of anxiety.
