Remington
I opened the fridge door and grabbed a bottle of beer, only to have it ripped out of my hands immediately after I shut the door.
"Your kidneys are gonna fail." Emerson grumbled, as he opened the bottle and went to take a swig of it himself.
I grabbed the beverage back from him and took a drink, "Maybe I don't give a fuck."
He rolled his eyes at my sarcastic smile, "Take a deep breath, and sort your shit. No bitch fits tonight, I mean it."
I stared at him with a sour look, and his expression softened.
"Please," He said softly, "I know you're still hurting but, this is a good night, ok? Just- try to have a good time. You worked hard- we all worked hard- so we just all deserve a night to try and be in a good mood, yes?"
I nodded before dumping the booze down the drain, and smiling weakly, "I'll try, just for you."
"Thank you, it means the world." Emerson rolled his eyes again, but the smile that danced on his lips portrayed it as playful.
"What are you goons up to," Sebastian held an accusing glance between Emerson and I as he walked into the kitchen, but he gave up pretty easily when we didn't respond, "we should probably leave soon if we wanna be there on time."
"Do you think I look ok?" I asked sincerely, after checking my hair in the mirror that was hanging by our front door.
"No," Sebastian joked, "but it's too late, let's go."
I let out a dramatic huff.
"What's your problem," He questioned warily, "you know I was kidding, right?"
"He's all bent up over Austyn coming to the release party tonight." Emerson answered as we climbed into the car. A nervous shiver crept down my spine. The last time I saw her, I broke her heart. Who knew what was in store for tonight? I didn't want to see her if she was gonna hate me, but I didn't want to not see her at all.
"Oh that," Sebastian said confused, "of course she's going to be there, she's our photographer."
"But I'm also in love with her." I clicked my tongue after mumbling to myself, like it was the most obvious statement in the world. Hell, to everyone in that car, it probably was.
My older brother shook his head as he pulled out of our driveway, and began the drive. We sat quietly for most of the ride, and that kept my focus out the passenger side window.
"Do you really think we should fire her," Sebastian questioned suddenly, causing both Emerson and I's eyes to widen, "I mean, you're my brother, and I care about you. Austyn's really talented, and I think it'd be really really hard to find someone to fill her shoes but, if it would help you heal so we could do our jobs correctly, then- I'll just have to figure something out."
My eyebrows raised, and my mouth dropped a little, "Really? You'd do that for me."
"Oh- no," He clarified with a scoff, "not happily. I'd definitely give you shit for it but, I'd get over it."
I let out a light scoff.
"Are you sure that's what you'd want though?" Emerson peaked his head between the two front seats with an unsure expression on his face.
I guess he could be closer to wrong. Just because I was hurting didn't mean it was fair for me to take an opportunity away from her. Sebastian was right too. Not only was Austyn insanely talented, she understood what we wanted to do. She always let us have creative control, and that was really hard to find. Someone who had the same vision, and could execute our ideas almost perfectly.
