Remington
"Rem."
Sebastian called my name for who knows what time it was. I wasn't keeping track. I was just ignoring him.
"Remington." He repeated,
"What!" I snapped.
"Jesus Christ," He sighed as he gained control of the car that swerved from his flinch, "let's try that again! Remington."
I picked my head up dramatically and looked across at him from the passenger seat, sending him an overly-cheerful smile, "Yes, dear brother of mine?"
"There we go," Sebastian smiled sweetly, causing me to roll my eyes, "seriously though, can you try to be just a little happy?"
"I am so happy." I drug the 'so' out in sarcasm, pulling a laugh from my older brother.
"Come on," He sighed, "I know your heart hurts, and as much as I'd love to say 'I told you so' we don't have time for that right now. I feel the need to remind you that this lunch is important. We won't get an extension on the album, unless we win over the label. If you're mean, they might think you hate them."
"Well I kind of do sometimes." I retorted tiredly.
"But, we're not supposed to clue them in on that fact."
The look on his face, sent us into a fit of laughter.
"See! Get all of you're anger out now!" Emerson added himself to the conversation, and rubbed the back of my head.
I swatted his hand away, "Fuck off, you prick!"
"There we go!" Sebastian played along.
"Eh," Emerson clicked his tongue disinterestedly, "not your best but, we'll get there."
"It's too late, we're here," Sebastian shrugged, and put the car in park. He then put his elbow on the center console, and held out his pinky to me, "can we please get through this? Respectfully?"
After a minute, I hesitantly locked my finger with his, "Fine."
Sebastian grinned at my agreement.
"Alright. Now let me see that stupid little smile of yours!"

"So boys," Emily, the rep from our label grinned at us from across the booth, "thanks for meeting me, and sorry about the short notice!"
"Absolutely! Thank you for meeting us." Sebastian returned the smile. Emerson and I did the same but ours were more forced, and awkward.
"Well," She sighed, "if I'm being honest, it's more of a formality."
I fought the urge to let my head hit the table. That couldn't possibly be good news.
"Right, I understand." I could tell but the look on Sebastian's face that his brain was in the same spot as mine.
"Yes, so-"
"Hello, how are we- oh," My eyes immediately met hers and I wanted to dig a hole under the table, curl up in a ball, and hide in it, "hey guys."
"Austyn," Emerson beamed, "hey! How are you?"
He was so oblivious.
"I'm alright Em." She smiled softly but her eyes were hiding something. Just like always.
"What are you doing here?" I mumbled, more to myself.
"I work here," She so obviously fought the urge to roll her eyes. God she could be so infuriating, "and I'll be your server today."
